Fanfic word guessing game: hour :D

Ha! Thanks, friend! Hour, hey? Well, we'll go with Chapter 4 of a story I haven't posted any of yet. It's Dragon Age. Technically Dragon Age 2 at this stage, though the main cast includes a few more Hawkes than canon, and also, my future Inquisitor, Aislin Trevelyan. For context, she has - at this point - been living in Darktown with Anders for six months, and has very recently used healing magic (taught by Anders) to save Bethany Hawke's life. A little more conversation between them leads to this:

Bethany hesitated, still trying to understand what she was really asking. Slowly, she said, “You lived with Anders for six months and didn’t even tell him your full first name was Aislin. Yet, less than twelve hours after meeting me - most of which time, we were both asleep - you tell me that, and then some?”

I really like my prose! I think it's engaging and definitely what I'm most good at -- it helps that I get a lot of compliments on my prose too!

🍭why did you start writing?

I live inside my own head and inside my own imagination, so I wanted a way to process all of that. Writing has been a constant in my life and it's something that I always come back to.

💘Is there any posted fic you want to rework/re-edit/re-write?

I have an Eve (killing eve) backstory fic that I want rework and completely re-write from the beginning. I've been saying that for about two years though, so who knows when it will happen!

Hello, there, happy belated STS! Thank you for the return ask, I always appreciate that immensely :D

Choosing to describe this one vaguely because its in the draft that I am currently working on, but I am really proud of the flashbacks that I have added to this draft. They all happened kind of naturally and I was able to add them because of how well I feel like I know my characters. I am really happy with that development in this draft :)

What uncharitable takes would your OC have about you if they met you?

Lmaooooooo he'd for SURE think I was a dumb pushover and have a lot of "What the FUCK are you DOING??" moments because I'm noooooooot as outright confrontational and when I want to be a bit of a bastard, it's in a more backhanded or indirect way (I'm a rogue/bard after all~) and I have the constitution of a wet piece of tissue paper, so he would think I'm weak as shit lol

In what way is your OC worse than you?

OOF MANY,,,,,, He's way more willing to act on aggression/violent impulses than I am, and tends to want to do/act more than think He's super selfish and prideful and goes OUT OF HIS WAY to make himself disgusting and using it to push people away He's also crude and WILL pick way too many fights

Last song listened to: Mulder and Scully - Catatonia. Back to my nineties roots, baby! My wife has this one playlist she plays pretty much on repeat, and this is on it, so we were singing it at the top of our voices while making dinner. Full bad Welsh accents and everything. 

Currently watching: Comfort-watching Parks and Rec for the 900th time. 

Last movie: Watched the D&D movie a couple of weeks ago. Love it. 

Currently reading: I’m about to start Ben Aaronovitch’s new Rivers of London novel, Stone and Sky. I love his stuff. As a Londoner, his descriptions of places I know are amazing. 

Currently playing: Expedition 33, Rimworld, BG3 (for the third time), Elder Scrolls Online and a bunch of other random stuff. I jump about a lot! I just got Geforce Now working on my Steam Deck, so that should help with getting through some of these. 

Sweet/spicy/savory: All three - depends on the day! Can I add sour? I looooooove acidic stuff. 

Current obsession: BG3, and specifically, Jaheira my beloved. I have loved her since 1999, but BG3 has magnified that love a thousand percent.And now I have a whole lifestory invented for her in my head (and Blackjackkent’s) 

Last thing I googled: "Baldurs Gate original release date". My memory is baaaad. 

Currently working on: I have a Jaheira fic that has been sitting in my Google docs half finished for aaaaages. It will get finished! Tagging: anyone who wants to

One of my best friends and I have a tendency to just shout "fucking February, man!" at each other fairly regularly, haha.

For context, both they and I got together with our girlfriends in the same week at the beginning of February 2020. We were both utterly bemused by this fact, and that we'd found girlfriends at all. I'm now married to mine. They are marrying theirs in August. So, fucking February.

chamomile ⇢ what kind of things do you like receiving as gifts?

All kinds of things. But I guess, thoughtful things. Anything where the person has picked or done something for me because they have genuiley thought about what I like. So that can be, like, anything from stuff to do with whatever my current fandom is, to nice bath oils because I live in the bath, to an interesting book that they know I will like, to an experience of some kind doing something I'll find fun.

I mean, I guess that's the same for everyone, but it really is the thought behind it that matters.

taro ⇢ if someone called you right now to catch up, what’re the things you’d tell them about?

They'd probably hear all about my dog being ill, because that's my main focus at the moment, heh. And about our plans to move at some point in the hopefully-not-too-distant-future.

There's not much else of interest going on at the moment!
