The curvaceous and beautiful Madame Magic was, when she was younger, a cute young pre-teen who loved horses more than anything else. So many horses, figurines, books, what have you, and most importantly, riding lessons. And it was during one of these riding lessons that she became a hero.
A young Alijah struck out on her first solo ride, happily riding out in the Vermont summer sunshine, and into the gorgeous foothills near her hometown. A few hours into her ride, as she was trotting near a placid stream, a massive sonic boom rang out suddenly, surprising her horse.
Panicking, the spirited horse through her, breaking her tailbone off of a tree nearby as she was catapulted through the air. As she lay groaning on the moss-covered bank, a woman slowly phased into existence, up to her calves in the stream before her. A vision of statuesque, if bewildered, beauty, this woman was Zhered-Na, Sorcerer Supreme of Atlantis, and a time traveler from 16,500 BC.
Blinking, bemused, and apologizing fervently in her native Atlantean, an embarrassed Sorcerer Supreme cast healing magics on the prostrate girl. After making sure she was alright, Zhered-Na decided to try to fine-tune the spell again, and returned to her own timeline, the same way, with the sonic boom and the phasing.
However, it was to Ali's surprise that she discovered a book that had slipped into the shallows, a book covered in Atlantean glyphs. As she drew it forth from the water, the Tome of Zhered-Na became several stacks of cards, transforming with shimmers of light as she looked at them.
Deciding to lay them out to see what the hell she had found, she pulled a green card from the deck and invoked its name as she laid it down. Suddenly, she felt the Earths turning, aware of her cosmic presence. Around her, the forest gathered its energy and flowed through her and into the card. She felt the exhilarating rush of the magical energy known as mana as, creating a small pop as he phased into this dimension an ancient man from Alfheim stepped into the stream, quite surprised at the interruption, but pledging fealty to the young woman whom would one day, as he said, be Sorcerer Supreme.
The next few years saw Ali become the worlds most proficient summoner, an expert on the Nine Realms, from which many of her creatures came, and a proficient horsewoman and actor. By the time that the 50-State Initiative was launched, she was a widely respected part time pupil of Doctors Strange and Voodoo. When asked by several of her collegiate friends to join the forming Green Mountain Avengers, she happily consented.
Today, Ali works as a librarian in between astrally projecting to distant parts of the cosmos, fighting crime, and bothering her cat, Max. Known as one of the most powerful women on the East Coast, she prefers to summon creatures to handle conflicts, although Doctor Strange is currently teaching her basic spells, and Doctor Voodoo is teaching her ritual spells. Outside of her duties, she still enjoys horse back riding, acting, and hanging out with her best friends, who are typically fellow members of the GMA.
