Working on our flagship name RuneScape by RSgoldfast
One listing does suggest that the applicant will probably be "working on our flagship name RuneScape," indicating that this is a new variant of the company's core game and not a brand-new MMO.
It's possible that this is the project that Jagex is working with cloud game firm Improbable, with whom the developer announced a partnership with last year.
RuneScape is a favorite and long-running free MMORPG (massively multiplayer roleplaying game) currently available on Mac, PC and Linux as a browser game, but the writer Jagex has announced it's going to be coming to iOS in 2017. In this article we discuss the evidence surrounding RuneScape's release date on iPhone and iPad; we will update with new information as and when it appears, so check back frequently.
RuneScape came out all of the way back in 2001 and has proved remarkably resilient. While lovers continue to play with upgraded iterations of the game (RuneScape two came out in 2004; RuneScape 3 in 2013), a number stay attached to what they see as its long-ago golden era: Old School RuneScape, a separate and retro-styled version according to RuneScape circa 2007, is supported and widely played to this day.
After such a long and successful run on backgroundcomputer, it was unavoidable that the land would make some sort of dab on mobile. Sure enough, the writer says iOS and Android versions will appear later this season.
The two RuneScape (the up-to-date variant) and Old School RuneScape (based on the 2007 version) are slated for upcoming jumps on iOS. Old School RuneScape will come, and Jagex has verified this will launch on mobile in winter 2017.
"The Old School RuneScape mobile customer is arriving late 2017, with complete cross-platform support and also a mobile-optimised interface," says Jagged on its site. "Your game, anyplace.
"Whether you decide to fish, fletch, fight, or anything else in Old School, you will soon have the ability to continue on cellular right where you left from on PC."
Jagex hasn't yet said exactly when the newer version of RuneScape will launch on iOS, but we know it will be some time next year: "RuneScape Mobile will accompany 2018," Jagex has stated.
We know that the forthcoming launches on cellular will be optimized for all those platforms, and they'll allow cross-platform play background, continuing your game from one to another.
"Our players' time is valuable, and that is why we want to provide all RuneScape players, both past and present, the opportunity to play RuneScape on the go," commenter the organization's senior product manager Neil McClarty. "The fact they will have the ability to play on PC, render the PC, and pick up their mobile and continue playing where you left your personality is going to be a huge deal for our players - there actually will not be a demand for any XP waste".
It seems likely that the company is going to see Old School as a kind of beta or soft-launch preparation for modern RuneScape - RuneScape gold . It's possible that the former might be offered as a complimentary or freemium introduction into the notion, with the latter introduced later as a more polished and paid-for upgrade, although the game's desktop is so firmly rooted in the free-to-play model that we think that's a long shot.
