okay so we know how often your babies end up looking exactly like your spouses right?? there's a lot of mods to make your kids look even more identical if vanilla game is not enough and that's cute!!! but i was thinking....
how would the rigside village spouses react if their (biological otherwise it wouldn't make sense, but ✨magic✨ exists so anyone can have bio kids here lolol) child look EXACTLY like the farmer instead? their baby is a little copy of the farmer!! they have the farmer's eyes, nose, mouth, hair and everything!!!!!! the farmer's genes were too strong to defeat lmao
As far as I remember, dear anon, in the vanilla sdv, biological children and adopted children are always depicted with the same chestnut-colored hair (though I think their skin tone might vary), so even a biological child won’t look like either parent (hope I didn't sound like "erm actually 🤓 ☝", lmao)
But yeah, mods let you customize children's appearance however you like! (“Elaho's Babies and Toddlers Expanded” is my favourite because it compatible with SVE.)
Generally speaking, genetics can be pretty funky, and a child might look almost exactly like one parent irl, but never 100% So I’ll describe the bachelors’ reaction to the fact that their little one looks almost exactly like Farmer (like 99.9% or something like that — you get the idea).
Anyway, sorry for my rambling, and thank you for the ask! Have a good day ☺️ 💕✨

RSV bachelors:
Zayne had never given it a second thought. He was completely absorbed in his long-awaited role as a father, the child was happy and just as beautiful as Farmer, so the future head of the Amethyne legacy didn’t dwell on the fact that the baby bore no physical resemblance to him. He was forced to revisit the subject against his will when Zayne overheard some guests at the mansion banquet whispering that the baby’s lack of his facial features was probably a sign that this farmer had been unfaithful…. That is why the usually calm man coldly put the guests in their place, hinting that they were no longer welcome here. He loves his family and will staunchly defend them.
Jio knew that his child might have some elven features, like his own long, pointed ears, or look like an ordinary human. Still, Jio was a little surprised that his and Farmer’s child was an exact copy of Farmer, bearing no resemblance to Jio. However, when the little one refused the carrot puree, which they thought was tasteless, or when they got a “no” to their request to play ninja with Kiwi using sharp knives, the child would puff out their cheeks and give that very same grumpy, scowling look that is characteristic of an elf when he is angry or annoyed. That’s when the child is a spitting image of Jio, and the elf is proud of his little one.
While preparing for the arrival of their baby, Shiro and Farmer would sometimes chat about which physical traits (and how many) the child would inherit from each parent. Though these were never particularly important conversations, since what mattered most to them was the baby’s health, happiness, and safety — things that were the top priority. And when the moment finally arrived and a few more years had passed, Shiro realized that his genes hadn’t even tried, because the baby was literally a copy of Farmer, from the color of their eyes to, well, everything else. The veteran chuckled a little at this fact, then went back to cooing and playing with his little one, calling them his treasure.
At first, Jeric didn’t even notice that the child looked exactly like his dear Farmer. Yes, the little one had inherited Farmer's eye color, that's for sure, but Jeric and Farmer's baby was still too young to say for sure. He knew that a child’s physical features could change over time. But a little later, when the baby had grown a bit, they already had Farmer’s hair type and skin color, their facial features, and some other traits. And from Jeric… nothing. Literally, nothing at all. Heh, it’s funny how genes work. A little surprising, and maybe just a tiny bit disappointing, but hey, that’s not the most important thing to him. He's the father, with his lovely family!
“Our kid is the copy of you, dear. Heh, maybe that’s for the best.” Ian said that the child probably wouldn’t like certain features of his appearance in the future, if they had them. Like his big nose, or... But after hearing this, Farmer glanced at their husband, as if to say, how dare you say that my hubby isn’t the most handsome man in the whole world. And honestly, Farmer were a little upset that their little one hadn’t inherited Ian’s handsome nose, his cute freckles, and so much more. “But our kid did inherit your beauty,” the handyman was surprised at how smoothly it came out, but that’s exactly what he meant. His beautiful family... ❤️
“Wow. Heh, I didn’t stand a chance, did I….” And Sean really didn’t stand a chance, like, at all. He had at least thought that Farmer’s child would have some of his facial features, but this wasn’t even a 20/80 split — it was 100% Farmer's copy. Pfft, that turned out to be quite unusual and even a little funny for him. Although Sean doesn’t really know how all those genes work, just that they can be unpredictable and full of surprises. Still, it didn’t bother the handyman and young father at all, because it’s still his child, and he and his dearest spouse will love and protect their little treasure.
June held the baby in his arms, glancing first at the laughing child and then at his slightly bewildered spouse. This went on for a while as the pianist studied the features of the two people dearest to him, drawing his own conclusions. And just before Farmer could ask what their husband was doing, June finally set the baby down on the floor and said that his child was the spitting image of Farmer. He hadn’t noticed it before, but now that he looked closely, he was deeply struck. That shock, however, lasted a week or two before June simply came to terms with these circumstances and returned to his role as a caring husband and father.
“Honey, I think you’re exaggerating.” Maybe Philip did think he was exaggerating when his and Farmer’s baby was just a tiny infant, but now that they’ve grown a little and already have distinct features, there’s no denying the obvious. The little one is the spitting image of Farmer. To such an extent that Philip even jokingly mentioned cloning, as if referring to a superhero from his comics. “What cloning are you talking about. Let me remind you that you, so to speak, were also “involved” in the process,” and after saying this, Farmer gave their husband a warning, slightly stern look to get him to stop talking nonsense.
“Don’t you think, dear, that our little one looks exactly like me, and not a bit like you?” Actually, yes, Anton had noticed it, and he’d been thinking of asking Farmer about it, but was afraid his spouse might misinterpret his words. Besides, it wasn’t that it bothered the architect all that much; it was just so unusual. Moreover, as Anton later noted, the incredibly striking resemblance didn’t end with just their appearance, mentioning how their little one had started trying to eat the seaweed washed up on the shore. “What’s so surprising? Kids that age are always trying to eat things they shouldn’t.” Farmer replied, munching on a small piece of the seaweed they’d caught while fishing.
The same skin color, eyes, hair, the same moles and freckles of the same size and shape as Farmer’s… It was as if Farmer had walked into a copy shop, but instead of paper, they’d copied themself. For the record, Kenneth says this jokingly, and his attitude toward his child and spouse hasn’t changed at all, because he loves them both very much. But even Farmer can’t deny the fact that their genes simply knocked out the electrician’s genes in a flawless match, claiming full victory for themselves. Kenneth said this with a cheerful tone; he wasn’t upset or disappointed in the least that his little one didn’t resemble him at all. Surprise, and that’s all.
Bryle didn’t notice the striking resemblance between Farmer and their little one until he stumbled upon a photograph in the house. It took the bodyguard a moment to figure out why the photo of the baby looked so old and yellowed, until he recognized Grandpa in the picture, who had taken it with his grandchild, Bryle’s dear spouse. Farmer and their little one — like two peas in a pod! Even their clothes are the same… though maybe the color of little Farmer’s clothes had faded in that photo, and their T-shirts were actually a different color, but still. Bryle once mentioned to Farmer over dinner how strikingly similar the child looked to them, but that was basically the end of the matter, and the family went back to their usual lives and chores.
RSV bachelorettes:
Well, it’s not like Maddie is all that surprised by this. After all, as a scientist (officially a lab assistant, but still), she knows how unpredictable genetics can be, and how, for example, a child can have ginger hair when both biological parents are brunettes because the great-grandfather had ginger hair. And it’s not like this bothered her in the slightest. Yes, the baby seemed to have been cloned from Farmer in literally every physical way, but that’s not a bad thing, and it doesn’t mean the mother will love her child any less because of it. It's actually quite sweet, Maddie thinks. Her little one is so funny and adorable, and she loves them just as much as she loves her spouse.
“Aww, our little one doesn’t look anything like me. Not a bit!” Although it might seem like there was a hint of disappointment in Blair’s voice regarding their physical resemblance, the young fisherwoman and mother isn’t upset about her child’s appearance in the slightest. It’s quite unusual that the baby looks like a clone of Farmer, but as for being upset about it — no, Blair isn’t upset at all. Especially since, even without bearing a physical resemblance to her, the little one has had a personality similar to her mother’s from a very early age, as well as an interest in fishing rather than farming. “Hah, one-one, it’s a tie so far.” (She’s joking, and she loves her family boundlessly.)
For Corine, the magic and oddities of the village and the Stardew Valley itself are by no means foreign. That’s why she almost immediately suspected that her spouse’s natural magical talent might be evident here. Does she consider her child’s identical appearance unusual? A little, though it’s not exactly that surprising. Should Corine worry about this? As for his appearance — not at all, because her little one is beautiful, healthy, and happy. The only thing that might worry her is some other unusual aspects of the baby’s life due to magic, because a caring mother wants to be prepared for anything. Although she and Farmer have everything under control.
Irene's little one is just a mini-Farmer, and she finds it incredibly charming and sweet. She didn’t have a single sad or suspicion thought about the fact that the child had inherited every single physical trait from her beloved spouse, bearing no resemblance to her at all. She will love her little one and take care of them no matter what. And as it turns out, the child also inherited a big appetite from Farmer, because Farmer and their little copy eagerly watch to see what delicious lunch Irene has prepared in the kitchen, waiting for the long-awaited call to the dinner table. Maybe someone noticed, but Amethyne’s personal chef and the young mom didn’t pay it much mind.
What Ysabelle had considered a happy time turned into a headache for her. No, of course she loves her child and her spouse, and it doesn’t really matter to her that the baby looks almost exactly like Farmer. It’s just that her parents started meddling in her family life… First by trying to convince her to return to ballet, then by trying to recruit her and Farmer’s child into ballet, and then, in desperation and irritation, blurting out that since the little one doesn’t look like her and doesn’t have a “natural inclination toward ballet,” their daughter should... take a paternity test. Yeah, safe to say that Ysabelle won’t want to hear from her parents for a very long time, because how dare they.
Oh, Flor knows there’s nothing surprising about how much her little one looks just like Flor’s dear spouse. Although the child certainly inherits genes from both parents, they may resemble one parent or neither at all, having inherited physical traits from ancestors. Although, upon closer inspection, Flor noticed that her little one even has moles and freckles of the same size in the exact same places as Farmer. It was almost too perfect, when you think about it. But Flor was more concerned with the family’s health and happiness than with how many physical traits the child had inherited from each parent.
“Oh, my sweetie, are you ready to take a walk to Ridgeside Village and visit our grumpy Uncle Jio? Hmm…” Daia quickly glanced at the laughing baby in her arms, then looked over at Farmer, sitting in a chair nearby. “Our little darling is the spitting image of their parent! And definitely not me, heh.” Farmer wanted to argue with their wife about this, but she was right — outwardly, the baby didn’t resemble their mother at all. Unusual? True. Does it bother or worry her? Not at all; Daia was just making an observation, but this particular fact didn’t bother her. She didn’t even care what exactly played a role in this — genetics or the magic in Farmer. The main thing was that right now, the ninja was gathering the family for a walk and to tease pay a visit to her pointy-eared colleague.
Aww... And Faye thought the baby would have her hair color... Oh no, of course she doesn't think Farmer's hair is any worse — it's just as beautiful and lovely! It’s just that Faye wasn’t referring to the hair specifically, but more to the fact that the baby doesn’t seem to have taken after their mother at all, while they're inherited all their looks from the other parent. Then again, the young mom doesn’t see this as a tragedy or a problem, and she loves Farmer and the baby boundlessly. She’ll have to accept that the baby doesn’t look like her at all. But hey, they looks just like Faye's wonderful spouse (100% identical), and besides, the baby is healthy and happy, which is the most important thing.
Paula was good at biology and had known since elementary school how DNA sometimes work. And that it’s perfectly normal for a baby to look like only one parent (Farmer, in this case), since their genes simply turned out to be stronger than hers. The military doctor joked that she’d lost the battle hands down, but what difference does it make? Her beautiful, healthy child was born, whom Paula and Farmer love and protect from harm. And sometimes the harm comes from the baby themself, trying for some reason to reach a jar of strange black mayonnaise with red dots. It seems that the baby inherited more than just their exact appearance from Farmer, ha-ha!
Alissa had only noticed a striking resemblance between her child and Farmer a couple of times, but the baby was still so small and could have picked up some of his mother’s features over time. It wasn’t as if this mattered all that much to her—certainly not more than her family’s happiness and well-being. But over time, her mother Olga pointed out in the photos that Farmer was literally holding a mini-version of himself in his arms; even their preferences in clothing colors were very similar. But while little Alissa may look like Farmer on the outside, the child has definitely inherited her personality and beautiful, melodious voice, as the little one sings along to songs on TV, much to the delight of both parents.
“Hon, don’t you think our little one looks just like me?” Yeah? Kiarra noticed this a long time ago, when the graphic designer was editing family photos on the computer and saw that Farmer’s image looked like it had been copied using keyboard shortcuts, shrunk, and photoshopped into the spot where the baby was in the picture. She’s more surprised that her spouse only just noticed it now — after all, the child has grown a bit, and their incredible resemblance to Farmer was as clear as day. Well, so what? Genes can be pretty funky, to the point where her and Farmer’s baby might not have looked like either of them at all. Everyone is happy and healthy, and that’s what matters most to Kiarra.
