About Jon
So on my most recent post I mentioned accusations about Jon that I thought more people knew about. After many of you expressed confusion, I went back to his ex-girlfriends Twitter to take screenshots and she deleted the tweets. Currently I can’t find any other screenshots or anything and I’m really sorry about that, because I know without evidence it’s confusing and weird, but I’ll try to explain it as best as I can?
Basically, Jon’s ex (riotrogers on Twitter) said that she came to visit about six months ago and Jon barely spoke to her or paid attention to her. The first night it worried her and made her cry and after that it got worse. Eventually, before her flight home, they were sitting in the car (I think making awkward small y’all? I read the tweets this morning and I forgot details) and she had to ask him if he wanted to break up with her instead of him coming out and saying it. She made some other tweets about things like haircut and discovery of croptops boosting his confidence or something (again, my memory sucks) and says how much it humiliated her due to the ignoring being in front of friends and family and how she was so in love with him and how it still hurts today. I definitely missed some stuff, but that’s the gist of it from what I can remember. If anyone can find screenshots please link them!!!! Edit: I’d also like to say I know these aren’t nearly extreme as the Trevor accusations, but if true, it was still disappointing and dickish behaviour imo, especially for an adult. They are not comparable but both sucked in very different ways
it fucking infuriates me that there are asshats in the comments of the newest AH videos whining about how they wish Fiona and/or Matt had been laid off
like...this happened TWO FUCKING DAYS AGO you assholes. 50+ talented, hardworking people lost their jobs out of nowhere. this is a hard enough situation for everyone involved without some edgelords trying to be Controversial
everyone at RT/AH that you worship would be ashamed of you. have some basic human decency for fucks sake
Before you get angry about the RT Pride shirts, please watch this LGBTQA+ panel from RTX where they got revealed. Watch this panel featuring only the LGBTQA+ members of Rooster Teeth. Listen to their stories and understand how much they worked to have this shirt made. Understand how much RT is trying to be inclusive of this side of the community. RT isn’t always right, and sometimes their content is queerbaity and their jokes are offensive. I won’t defend them on that. They’ve done a lot of things wrong. But this! This is the right thing to do! This right here is a step in the right direction, and fuck me if I’m not going to support that. I want RT to improve; to be better than what it is now. We can still be critical of what they do wrong, but we need to remember to support the right steps and celebrate the small victories too. And for everyone who thinks they’re trying to ‘scam the queer community out of their money’, I guarantee you, they’re chasing off a lot more ‘dude-bro cishet’ customers than gaining new LGBT ones. This move was a risk they took because they want us to feel welcomed in this community, even if that pushes their bigot customers out. That is so important. These are the kind of decisions companies need to be making right now; to make the LGBT community feel welcomed over the bigots. They still have their problems, sure, but they really are trying. Day 5 has a lesbian character who’s sexuality isn’t treated like a joke in any way. Last season of RvB featured 2 other lesbian characters. And the newest RWBY album featured a song that foreshadows Yang/Blake, much in the same way Boop foreshadowed Ren/Nora though at the time, canon made it clear they were just friends. I know we want more; I know they need to be doing more. But right now, these are good things. Let’s celebrate these small victories and encourage them in continuing this trend. If you want change, you need to support that change. Be critical, always be critical. But support is still important too.
Unpopular opinion(apparently): Jeremy Dooley deserves to be included in your AH things instead of Ray.
Hey fun fact don't shit on people who can't afford a first membership?? Like damn not everyone has like 35 dollars just laying around.
Secondly don't shit on people who end up pirating rt shows because ya'll can't keep spoilers to your damn selves to save your life. Besides the people pirating shows didn't cause the week gap between public and first release, The week gap causes pirating and rt still thinks it's a good idea
hey sorry is it cool for me to ask what's going on with rt doing something bad rn? i'm not really good at keeping up with all of it and i don't want to get mixed or wrong info
Hey!
So essentially, there’s a lot of salt going around with the RT pride shirts. Rooster Teeth has a history of homophobic jokes (RvB’s Donut is a big one, with nearly all of his dialogue being some kind of big against his effeminate nature) and queerbaiting (see: Miles and Kerry’s adventures in teasing gay RWBY characters for five years). I would go into bigger detail but I do have work soon. Essentially, there’s a feeling of why sell these shirts if you constantly queerbait and make jokes at our expense? Almost right after announcing shirts, the latest Camp Camp jokes had multiple jokes regarding calling a kid wearing a bundle of sticks a “fag” and really, I could go on, but I admit that even I’m upset. There’s also the BMBLB song which is an official song on the album, and yet we’ve been repeatedly told that Yang and Blake aren’t canon. It’s shifty feeling to suddenly tell us to buy their totally awesome gay shirts when they have a bad track record with being kind to the gays.
My personal take: I still love RT a lot. But I’m not about to put them above criticism. Yes, they are a liberal company, they’re progressive and hire LGBT people, and their unscripted content shows that they’re not horrible people. But these jokes just aren’t funny. They never were. I’m tired of them. A lot of people are and that’s why there’s frustration. We want the writers of these shows (namely Miles and Kerry) to recognize this and reflect.
geoffreyram replied to your post:
I can see both sides but I'm also getting a bit tired of seeing that one "RT does nothing wrong and tries their hardest!!" post. I hate invalidation as much as I hate calling them trash and berating employees over their choices
i can 10000% understand that. i hope i never came off as saying they did nothing wrong, bc obvious that writing in camp camp wasnt great, but just seeing it everywhere and just seeing everyone go back and forth on one another is killing me slowly
