I don't think I've left a review yet for Resisting the Current because I wanted to go through and read it a second time before consolidating all my thoughts on it but I just wanted to let you know that I read and absolutely loved it. I initially put off reading it forever because I didn't like the idea of the skeletons already having a girlfriend and I was worried about the drama that could unfold with the GF being interested in the main character, but I am sososososo glad that I sat down and read it because I was loving it when I when I realized that the GF was the one who was actively going to be trying to play matchmaker and not just invite the electrician to be hers again and they make it work, like she is very very actively trying to incorporate her into the relationship healthily in a way that they will all be on board with.
“I’m treated very well, don’t worry about that. Have you not been with any monsters or something?”
“No, I have,” you say, and she feels a swoop of relief in her chest. So you are attracted to monsters.
That was pretty much the line that had me like OH!!! I see what direction this is going!!!!!
When Sans started texting asking for the electrician's thoughts on the machine was where I was just fully fully locked in and absolutely hooked. idk why that was the turning point, because I throughly loved everything with Black but something about that first text from Sans just had my heart melting like ohhhh everything will be alright now I can just see him falling for them.
okies bye for now thank you for your hard work with this fic :)
This is such a lovely message, thank you so much! It makes me so happy that you gave it a chance and enjoyed it; I know the premise is a little polarising, so it always gives me a thrill when I manage to win people over with it haha.
I have a lot planned for sans and the electrician specifically, and soon! There’s this one chunk of dialogue/heart to heart bit coming that I’ve had written for ages and cannot wait to post. It’s a fun dynamic in general - Sans is pretty much at his rock bottom and the reader has been there done that, had the painful realisations and bought the t-shirt, so there’s a lot to play with in their interactions.
I also really like writing the reader being delighted by his sense of humour whilst also being kinda slow to get it lol, like it always takes them a beat to pick up on a pun or bit of wordplay. It’s fun to write sans with an mc who can pun back tit-for-tat, but I also think he’d enjoy watching someone’s face as they processed a joke - furrowed brow, slightly pursed lips, a second of silence - and then the way they’d grin unabashedly when they got it. It’s tangible evidence that his jokes are clever and funny, and watching a punchline land in real time never gets old.
