Seriously considering boycotting RTC of southern Nevada because they continue to choose passing elderly patrons that are incapable of making to the next 'proper' stop during unforeseeable construction (and it really is unforeseeable. It changes daily where the one lane sections are and they seem to enjoy starting them by bus routes). It is often near freezing temperature when this occurs, in extreme cold, and the elderly patrons will have walkers. They tell them "go to the next stop" but it's not like the transit route stops say that the stops are unuseable, NOR do the stops suggested are anywhere near 'close'. Not only that, but when the driver REACHES the destination before the elderly patron, they continue on rather than wait! The bus company needs to work with the construction planners in determining where they can open up to two lanes so that there is not four or more stops between the two. The drivers also need to think about how this impacts the image of the company, by choosing to not stop at an impromptu stop where the lane opens back up into two or by not waiting for the elderly patron to board their bus. Of course, boycotting is an extreme choice or option, without first trying smaller steps. I've heard before that rtcnsv doesn't show care or compassion about following up the complaints, or anything of the sort, and it'll take at least two weeks for the claim to be looked into, so I'll just continue to report it on the days I see it happen. And if they continue to be like 'well, it's not OUR fault that our policy states 'be at the right stop'' when they don't even HAVE the wrong or right stops listed, then I'll go to the next step up with the public state transportation system and if that doesn't work, then I'll start calling it discrimination against disabled passengers, since it seems like it to me. Pointedly choosing to not wait at the nearest opening for a disabled/elderly passenger AFTER telling them to GO TO THE NEAREST STOP? It's like you don't even want them there anyways. So what if it makes you late? As often early as the route gets, I think it can be spared. I'll start finding places to complain to if rtcsnv continues to show disregard for their customers. If I have to, I'll even go to the media about it.
