There are a lot of dragons in RTTE, and some of them look better than others. But these designs are some of the worst imo (except for maybe the Grim Gnashers), and I think I’ve finally figured out why. Pretty much all the other dragons have small, uniform scales all over their bodies, with a few larger ones scattered on their heads and forelimbs. Their scales form one continuous layer. But all four of these dragons have very large, prominent scales in one colour, on top of a lighter or darker shade underneath. It looks like their scales have been stuck on. The smaller scales look more natural whereas this looks really fake. I have no idea if these were designed by the same people, but given the similarities it wouldn’t surprise me. Or it could be an animation shortcut 🤷🏼♀️.
