Sayonara: RUA Magazine
Farewell to one of Japan’s leading online resources for Japanese skateboarding coverage, RUA Magazine. Upon visiting their website, on February 15th, readers were greeted with a notice about the website closing down and handing their past content to new online skateboarding publication called “Skateboarding Plus” where it can live on.
For their 8-year span, RUA covered the blossoming Japanese skate scene with their “Spot Check” & “a fish in water” videos, even going overseas like in this video featuring Mickey Papa at his local in LA! Their international content came complete with Japanese subtitles, something that was and still is largely missing from Japanese skateboarding media. Localization of skateboarding media is a labor of love that often goes under-appreciated, as was the case here with RUA. They will be missed!
