Mannerisms That Could Be Shared Among Spren-Human Pairs in the Cosmere

As (sort of) requested by anon37. :)

[THIS POST CONTAINS MILD WAT SPOILERS!]

Our requester was inspired by this post by @thephilosophersapprentice, about how Syl and Kaladin might adopt each other's mannerisms. And they asked if I could write something based on this post. So if spren/human pairs beyond Syl & Kaladin shared mannerisms, here are some examples I think could be real!

Shallan humming to herself--not musically. More of a straight HMMM sound.

Shallan using "Delicious!" as a compliment (and not in reference to food).

Shallan saying, "Shallan! Shallan!" to herself to hype herself up.

Shallan walking with a bouncing gait, reminiscent of Pattern's excited bouncing.

Shallan vibrating when excited.

Pattern spinning around a cremling, seemingly in interest.

Rua sticking himself to walls.

Lopen begging a gem for "more arms" so as to "be able to keep up with Rua" while Rua gestures in solidarity beside him.

Lopen talking more and more with his hands--and sometimes without verbal speech at all.

Jasnah adopting some of Ivory's speech patterns, especially when tired.

Jasnah seeming to draw herself up, to make herself bigger to command attention.

Ivory adjusting his hair or makeup before entering a room, despite not really having either.

Hoid "breasting boobily" down the stairs. Somehow.

Design staring hawkishly at things.

Dalinar using what some people call the "Stormfather voice" when he wants to command attention.

Dalinar walking in straight lines without a care for obstacles.

The Stormfather quoting the Way of Kings, seemingly without realizing it.

Lift saying, "Oh dear!" and then seeming to regret it.

Wyndle saying, "Shit!" and then seeming to regret it.

Venli cupping her hands in a protective gesture.

Timbre pulsing out the rhythms of some of Venli's favorite songs.

Navani referring to the "rooms" or "tunnels" or "citizens" of her own body, seemingly without noticing any oddness.

The Sibling developing a morbid curiosity that frankly scares them.

Glys shimmering in time to Renarin's stimming.

Teft using a "Phendorana voice" when needing to be strict.

Teft using a "Phendorana glare" when needing to be intimidating.

Adolin greeting his friends with "Hey, sluts."

Maya and Adolin constantly mirroring each other's positions when sitting near each other.

Maya and Adolin walking in step.

Maya flirting with women. Badly.

I'm sure when Lopen first sees Rua appear as a little boy, he goes, "Not that I'm not grateful, naco, but I think it would help if you appeared like a pretty lady like Sylphrena, sure. Might help me with the human ladies if they saw a pretty spren bonded to me."

Rua grows two extra arms.

"Good," Lopen encourages. "So you can change shape, naco. Now as I said..."

Rua grows two more arms.

And Lopen changes his mind. "Maybe we could do something cool with these arms instead. How many exactly can you grow?"

Overworld Interactions (5D's Tier 2) - Tag Force Special Re-Translation Update! (Project Announcement Post)

So, I actually worked on this overworld text after I finalized my GX 138-140 subs, along with starting on the in-duel lines for a few characters, but held off on posting about it until I got everyone's in-duel lines done, which I just worked on after my GX 141-143 subs were all finalized--just ended up taking just over the month of time I usually give myself for TFSP work because there are so many... lol. (Too many that I couldn't screenshot some of those in-duel lines since I wanted to show off the OW lines I could [rip Jinbei and Demak])

But that said, the overworld text and in-duel stripe textlines for 5D's Tier 2 characters are all done! These were fun to work on and give my take on being a fan of Horoko/TnKP's subs for 5D's, and I did reference the Crunchyroll subs here/there as needed for a second opinion, too.

So, as of now:

Overworld text for 5D's Tier 2 characters--*deep breath* Rua, Ruka, Bruno, Antinomy, Andre, Breo, Jean, Yoshizo, Jinbei, Taro, Dragan, Brave, Harald, Placido, Lucciano, Jose, Aporia, Z-ONE, Sherry, Ushio, Mikage, Yeager, Carly, Misty, Bommer, Demak, Rudger, Rex, Divine, Mukuro, Himuro, and Rally *phew*--is all done! This puts the Story Mode text file's progress at about 72% done; next will be the OW text for ZEXAL's Tier 2 characters, leaving ARC-V's Tier 2 characters; the remaining Tier 3 characters across each series world; the Tournament-related text; and miscellaneous stuff like the Duel Statues. (Side-note: not sure if it was also in TF6, but I love that Z-ONE's sprite hovers up and down when talking with him, lol.)

Their corresponding in-duel "stripe" textlines are done, as well, which puts us at about half of the stripe lines being done. As mentioned in the DM Tier 2 update, characters that are also in Duel Links and/or Duel Terminal will have some new lines for cards in their decks that they have voicelines there for which will be used in the Deluxe version, though to a bit of a lesser degree than done for GX's cast since the 5D's characters overall had a reasonable amount of lines for key cards. (I also fixed a slight bug where one of Mikage's loss lines was erroneously listed in her second-win-line slot.)

I'll also continue to maintain hope that more of the cast gets added to DL, since I'm currently limited to their TF6 and/or occasional DT voicelines to incorporate into the Deluxe version (and as such, while I'll be undoing the duplicate default "I Special-Summon!" everyone has for Synchro/Xyz/Pendulum-Summoning as I did with the Meikyuu Brothers for the base game, I'll likely need to reincorporate that for the Deluxe due to the voiceline shortage). But for now, I've drafted up the voicelines I'm planning to include for everyone, along with notes about lines I'll rip from the show or how I'll edit together some lines as needed to get close to their TFSP lines where I can. That said, this will be an ordeal for Himuro and Mukuro, since I'll have to heavily rely on ripping from the anime given that this was their first Tag Force game and they weren't in Duel Terminal; they were in both Wheelie Breakers and Duel Transer, but sadly they reused most of their WB lines in Transer, so while I'll use what I can from both, well... (I'll have to figure out what to do with all of Himuro's lines for Machiners cards he never used in the anime, too...) (I'd also like to eventually try adding Dark Signer Carly if we get to the point of being able to add characters, but that's a future thing)

I'm still going through the ZEXAL Tier 2 character bios in my on-the-side translations I've been doing whenever I commute, and I just wrapped up a draft for Gilag's the other day.

As a bonus, I've shared some extra screenshots of some unused Partner dialogue; likely left in from TF6, several of the 5D's cast have full sets of dialogue as your Partner (entering a Player or Partner duel, winning/losing/drawing either, entering a Tag Duel together, and winning/losing/drawing) that I also translated, and after figuring out some debugging tricks, I was able to get them displayed, hehe. We'll see if we ever eventually figure out how to add them as Partners...

So I think that'll just about do it for this round of translation; hopefully things look promising! Going to start shifting back to GX and work on finalizing 144-145 as we get into the aftermath of Judai's time as Supreme King, and then I'll come back to work on the ZEXAL Tier 2's OW text (we'll see how many of their in-duel lines I get to start). Stay tuned!
