Ruby Foo's by StreetsofWashington Via Flickr: The D.C. branch of the well-known Ruby Foo’s chain opened in 1942 at 728 13th Street NW. Ruby Foo Wong (1904–1950) had opened her first Ruby Foo’s Den in Boston in the late 1920s to great acclaim. More sprang up in New York City before Wong’s brother opened the Washington restaurant. More a supper club than just a restaurant, Ruby Foo’s featured dining on the first floor, dancing and entertainment on the second and “exotic” Chinese décor throughout. In 1943, the second floor was remodeled as a Tahitian Room featuring Hawaiian dancers and jungle greenery. The restaurant suffered a setback in 1950, when cases of colorful Ruby Foo’s matchbooks like this one caught fire in the rear, starting a blaze that resulted in injuries to 13 firemen. The club closed in the late 1950s.

It's National Cheeseburger Day! What is a burger without cheese?
We've teamed up with our friends at BR Guest Hospitality, who are putting Murray's Cheese on burgers at ALL THEIR RESTAURANTS. Nice.
In return, we're giving away 2 seats in a class at Murray's Cheese. To win, say "cheese" on the BR Guest facebook page. If you are a gambling type, you can double your odds by posting a pic of yourself actually eating a cheeseburger at one of their spots.
It's a rainy day in NYC, let's all go to Burgertown.

Harry Potter Exhibit: New York, NY
So I visited the Harry Potter exhibit along with my fellow Gryffindors and the Headmaster Dumbledore. Gotta say it was a pretty nifty exhibit. But altogether disappointing sadly. It was cool getting to see a bunch of the clothes and objects that were in the actual movies, but it was more like taking a long walk through the Harry Potter closet of stuff used on-set. I thought it would be more.. interactive. The sorting was nothing more than a guy (albeit a sexy gorgeous hot guy) calling three random kids out of the crowd (form the same side of the room, not even bothering with the people in the back) and the hat gave them the houses they wanted rather than give it at random or ask a question of some kind first. It was so fruity. I thought we would actually get to play a game of Quidditch by being split into teams and running around with a Quaffle. . We threw them through three small basketball sized hoops but that is about it. We also got to pull up mandrakes. Which were so loud and noisy..and really gross to touch.
There was absolutely NOTHING on Dumbledore, nothing about the house ghosts, and Hufflepuff was shown such little recognition, it could only be beaten by the fact that Ravenclaw got absolutely NOTHING in the exhibit at all. We got to see some of the Gryffindor stuff, the Yule ball stuff, and a LOT of the wizard world candies. The overpriced Gift Shop made it hard to take back a memento of the night. It was fun, and I really liked seeing everything, but I couldn't even take a book of the exhibit home. It was 25 bucks! One would think you could at least get something like that for 10 bucks.
On the brighter side of a good evening (because even though it was a bit disappointing I DID have fun at the exhibit) Ruby Foo's is a fantastic place to eat if you have the money. I loved every bite of everything I tasted. OMFGNCknlckwjnvwiuvbu;ll the desert Bento Box. YUM <3 (cept for the pudding) P.S. Big Bang Theory Season four~ Yay!
