West Ham United is delighted to announce that Ruby Grant has joined the Club on a short-term deal. Grant joins the Irons on non-contract terms and is the sixth new player to join Matt Beard’s Hammers this summer, following Mackenzie Arnold, Maz Pacheco, Katerina Svitkova, Hawa Cissoko and Nor Mustafa in moving to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League side. “I am extremely grateful to be here,” Grant told whufc.com. “To be working with the team here and with Matt is going to be really good. I’m hoping to get a lot from it and develop in the next couple of months. “The Barclays FA WSL is a great league and it’s always be a dream of mine to play in this league. I’m hoping to get my head down, work hard, and get some good minutes under my belt.”
Head coach Matt Beard said: “I am delighted to welcome Ruby to West Ham United. “Due to the pandemic, Ruby has been training with us and I have been really impressed with her. She is a technically very gifted player, who can play in all three midfield positions, and is a great addition to our group.” A graduate of the Arsenal Academy, Grant spent seven years with the Gunners, working her way through the ranks – from the RTC into the club’s youth teams. Grant made her breakthrough into the Arsenal first team during the 2018/19 campaign when, as a 16-year-old, the midfielder made five first team appearances, two of which were from the start. The youngster was also named the Player of the Round in the FA Women’s Cup after scoring a hat-trick in the fourth-round 4-0 win over Crawley Wasps. Grant would make a further two appearances for Arsenal in the Continental League Cup in the 2019/20 campaign. Everyone at West Ham United would like to welcome Ruby to the Club and wish her all the best for her time in Claret and Blue.
