Prompt 15 - Spectacular

“How is it we ended up with the worst compartment on our last journey?” Regulus grumbled from his seat on James’s lap. “You’re Head Boy! Go throw some little firsties out. No, wait!” Regulus turned until he was looking over his shoulder at Peter. “Peter, go find a good compartment and scare whoever’s in it out with Wormtail,”

“Love, we’re not going to do that,” James said soothingly, stroking Regulus’s back until he lowered his shoulders and relaxed against James’s chest again. 

“Speak for yourself,” Peter huffed and squeezed his way out of the door and disappeared down the train. 

“We’re some of the brightest wizards of our age,” Remus grumbled, squirming uncomfortably in his seat. “Why can’t we just fix the seats?” They all stared at him slack-jawed, because why hadn’t they thought of that?

After a few minutes of discussion, they got to work, and soon their compartment was the plushest, most luxurious one on the entire train. 

They had just settled back into the squashy seats when screams erupted a few compartments down. Sirius hopped up and stuck his head out of the door as a group of second years rushed past, whacking at their legs as they ran. 

“Oi, Pete! We made this one better; we don’t need that one now!” Sirius shouted down the carriage, and Peter stomped back into their compartment. 

“Oh well, that was fun anyway. Imagine being that scared of one little rat just sitting on the armrest,” he tsked. “Hey! This place looks amazing.” He retook his seat and groaned as he relaxed back into the soft cushions. 

Their peace didn’t last long as Barty came storming in, followed closely by Evan. 

“Have you seen this?!” He raved, throwing that morning’s copy of the Daily Prophet onto Regulus’s lap. Regulus picked it up and read the headline on the page Barty had been reading. 

‘Crouch is on a Roll!

Bartemius Crouch, known for his spectacular arrest and prosecution of Orion and Walburga Black, has been shortlisted to become the next Minister for Magic.’

It went on to describe Crouch’s contributions to the Ministry and about his wife. Barty wasn’t mentioned at all. Regulus wrinkled his nose at the idea of Crouch being in charge of the country. 

“Yeah, exactly,” Barty huffed. “I’ve got to stop this from happening.” He sat down beside James and scratched his head as he thought. They left him to it and enjoyed their last train ride, purchasing a ridiculous amount of sweets from the trolley witch and scoffing the lot before they arrived at King’s Cross Station and came to a halt at Platform 9 3/4.

Hear me out: board game night. The ROs, Chris, Jade and MC. How does Monopoly go? Will anyone get really competitive or insist on being the bank? (Let's assume they are stuck in a snowstorm or whatever so they can't leave and playing is better than talking or doing anything naughty while all the rest are there..relationship status up to you) Who buys by color preference and who just by whimsy? Who calculates maximum gains and who ends up in jail? Who takes things in stride and who absolutely takes the game way too seriously? Monopoly can apparently destroy families and now I'm curious. Alternative: Just family game night with the parents, siblings and one RO of your choice..

There would be so much fighting, might as well save everyone the trouble and toss the board now. Down below~

♥️ Cam - (This little shit. Affectionate.) He's good enough at Monopoly, but he's such a sore loser. If Cam is close to losing, he's tempted to toss the board. And he reasons that this way no one wins or loses. He tends to stick toward the first two parts of the board and the utilities. He goes all out for houses. Has the misfortune of rolling doubles three times in a row and landing his ass right in jail, which makes it a whole thing.

💙 G - Is considered the land baron of Monopoly. G doesn't mess around. When G used to play with MC and G, they always ended up being the banker.. So they've just gotten used to it. When it comes to buying property, they're cautious. They consider the places before and after to be the 'sweet spot'. It's a good spot to break people. They tend to buy houses in sets and are on top of their equity. (G would let MC get by without paying, but Cam… never!) Also, smug winner.

💚 Kara - She would much prefer Twister. Monopoly isn't her favorite. When she does play she only buys the green properties if she can get them. If not, then she settles for whatever is left. She barely pays attention when the game is going on, but when the fighting starts (as it always does) she tries to mediate. Kara never buys houses, choosing instead to pocket her winnings. But, if allowed she stops playing half-way through.

💛 M - They're just happy to be along for the ride. M doesn't really care about what properties to purchase, unless, Ardent pisses them off. Then M gets the playing piece that Ardent wants, they get the property Ardent wants. And offers to sale it back just 25% above market value. M tends to get too invested in the community chest cards and the little notes. Otherwise, M is pretty chill when it comes to board game night.

💜 Isaac - Railroads, give Isaac all the Railroads. Granted they don't get landed on that much, but Isaac has always liked them. Isaac is good at being the banker. Even remembering how much people owe. Better believe he's on the ball when it comes to reminding people to pay up. Always chooses the car to play as.

🖤 Ardent - Out of everyone he's probably the worst player. It takes him far too long to get settled in, even then he's antsy. Ends up constantly being in jail, saying the card's and the board are all against him. He's smart when it comes to the best places to purchase but usually those are bought up by the time he gets to them. Will probably end up arguing with Cam about missed property payments or something.

💩 Chris - Oh, they like to designate to people. Who can do this, who can buy that. It's for their own good, surely Chris knows what they're talking about. It's not like they're offering up these properties so that the one's over on the left side of the board near the corner get bought up. It's only a coincidence when Chris buys them. Chris usually ends up going bankrupt to the bank before they can get far, they never realized how expensive it can be to put houses and then hotels on all the property they purchased.

💀 Jade - She sucks at it. She wouldn't understand why she can't just buy all the ones she wants. When she notices that people are landing on certain properties more she'll try to buy them out. When she, can't talk about bitter. Acts like she has something better to do. Would joke about how it's just a children's game. Jade already treats life like a game so, guess she'll just keep playing that.

Gartic Phone but make it Superbat snippets?

@littlebutterbird, @joekitsu and I have you covered!

How does that work, you ask? Well...

We each write short little snippets of Superbat prompts we come up with, and after 5 minutes pass them on to the next person, who then has to guess the prompt and continue writing.
