Ruby fun facts (+ some Ferris cause they go together duh) because despite her being the secondary character of my story I share nothing of her (also mainly cause I'm hoping to post her reference next)
Ferris was pregnant with Ruby before she'd ever even made it to Mount Massive, and she was born only a month or two into Ferris' reagency. Because of this, Ruby was a big factor in Ferris' interest as a subject at Mount Massive, eventually leading to her being one of the transfers to Easterman as this unborn child also drew his attention. He wished to study whether or not the effects of MKUltra and the Trials themselves could alter somebody before they'd even left the womb, essentially wondering if he could breed his super soldiers instead of having to make them through the trials.
Obviously there is no actual weight to this theory at all, Easterman simply believes there is given how Ruby is when she is born. She doesn't cry, not even at the moment of her birth. She doesn't coo, or giggle or interact. She just awkwardly stares with her big ol doe eyes. She is also incredibly intelligent and cognisant straight out of the womb, prompting him to further believe he's actually made a break in human physiology through his experimentation. (He has not Ruby is just a weird little kid like the rest of her family) This is the ONLY reason Ruby actually remains within Sinyala. Because she in of itself is another experiment to him.
Despite being very steadfast on the idea that Ruby is his "daughter" Easterman actually gives very little towards this notion outside of his little episode during the events of the Escape. She was regularly passed around through the higher ups of the facility, typically to whoever was willing to offer an inkling of attention towards the girl, and that's about it, though she does grow a sort of sentiment towards her surrogate mother Bambi. (who belongs to @//buggiiguts) Past this, once she breaches those first few developmental years she grows quite adept at caring for herself and typically rejects aid from this moment on.
Ruby is currently 6 years old as of the current timeline of the game, born 09/11/1955. She presents with the maturity of a middle aged woman however, and her intelligence far surpasses any seen within Sinyala. She is also entirely unphased by the gore and gunk of the facility, as growing up around it made it a normality for her.
Ruby's most common pass time within Sinyala is observing the Reagents within the sleep rooms and trials. She can commonly be seen in the halls outside the sleep rooms staring in with her bug eyes, as well as will commonly accompany the scientists and guards within the actual trial settings to watch from the safety outside the perimeter walls. While she is free to roam the sleep rooms unabated, Easterman makes it imperative she is not to be alone while watching a trial lest something go wrong.
Ruby does not recognize Ferris by any regard, and vice versa. With all the messed up mush and gore she's witnessed since her birth, Ruby has a terrible time actually recognizing people, as they tend to all appear as pulverized meat in comparison to actual people, where as Ferris is so far gone mentally by the time she even has a chance to see Ruby for the first time any possibility within her mind that her daughter is still alive ceases to exist despite the obvious similarities between them.
Ruby does not really have a personality of her own outside of disdain and judgement. She watches and observes and mentally compartmentalizes what she can and that's about it. She does however very commonly mimic the expressions, traits and emotions of those around her, and she most notably seems to copy the Assets best due to how exaggerated they tend to be but also because she gets to observe them the most. When she needs to be angry she shouts a lot like Coyle, when she tries to show some sort of appreciation she comes off awkwardly motherly like Gooseberry, sadness comes in an over exaggerated infantile fit like Franco gives and so on. In a scenario where she cannot find the right example to imitate she comes off robotic and stiff and it's hard to tell what she's actually trying to convey.
