I guess I should start by saying that this place is a mess. I hardly ever tag stuff, and when I do, it's usually me rambling or gushing. -side scrolling/survival horror/beat-em-up game
-protagonist is a secretary for a big biotechnology company in the 70s
-knows very little about what they actually do there
-gets stuck in the building when it goes on high alert lock down, no one bothered to tell her because her office is on the ground floor in a back office
-has to find a master keycard to get out, but the keycard is on the highest floor, in the ceos office
-has to fight her way through the escaped experiments using her office supplies as weapons
-makes her way through a few levels going up, gets hold of what looks like a master elevator card, uses it; the elevator drops her into the basement of the building, where the labs are
-the obvious origin of all the mutated monsters running around upstairs
-finding various clues and keys
- meets one of the "successful" experiments along the way, who helps her after she helps him
-theyre both trying to escape
-the ceo is still alive, still in his office at the very top of the building, and is also very evil. he is an old man bent on creating a new race, stronger than the current one, by giving humans animal traits. some of his funding comes from shadowy branches of foreign governments. they want first dibs on the first few batches of successful, socialized-but-not-too-socilaized mutants to use as "super soldiers." its evident he didn't get very far in the functionality department, considering how few of his experiments are still both conscious and alive.
- Kathleen Tracey, 27, secretary and accountant. The protagonist. Quiet, sweet, has anxious tendencies. Leads an incredibly ordinary life and likes it that way. Thought she was working a normal job at a normal company, blindsided when that wasn't at all the case.
- Experiment K-80, (Prey Hybridization,End Phase) AKA Dean, 30, former soldier. A man of few words, brave to his own detriment, surprisingly helpful for someone in his situation.
-"Dean" does not remember his name, and it's later revealed that he chose his current name because of his younger brother, who was also enrolled in the same "military training program" that he was (this brother is seen later as part of an amalgam of flesh and body parts).
-Dean also does not recall much of his life, but his physical prowess, muscle memory, and any skills gained from his previous service are all sharp as can be.
Kathleens' Weapons:
Stapler -pick up small boxes of staples in safe areas, like ammo packs: operates like a small handgun
Binder-gathering files makes the binder heavier, increasing the damage it can do: serves as the base attack
Rotary Phone-replacing the phone cord makes it longer and gives it better long range: whip attack
Dean's Attacks:
Punch- standard punch: can be made stronger by picking up enhancement syringes from offices: new punches unlocked with each syringe : standard 1-2, bullet punch, uppercut
Kick- same as punch: can be made stronger by finding enhancement syringes: standard high kick, double kick, bullet kick, roundhouse kick
Specials- unlocked by finding and using special medkits: circle throw, elbow drop, tackle and/or body slam
Medical Stabilizer: very important endgame item. achieved by finding all powerups for both Dean and Kathleen. makes it so Dean can regain his sanity and leave the building with Kathleen at the end of the game. without it, he thinks it best for him to stay and be destroyed with the rest of the mutants.
-both Kathleen and Dean can use the same healing items, but both heal on their own slowly. Dean heals faster than Kathleen because of his mutation.
-Enemies: the unfortunate, unsuccessful mutations; are usually human bodies with animal skulls, flesh sloughing off to reveal the mangled bones beneath. most have no humanity left, nothing but husks eager to inflict their pain onto others.
