Ruby peel bug is happy you made it to Friday :)
RUBY PEELBUG
Here we have our first Peelbug! And it is actually kind of a strange one, being the most obscure of the four! It makes sense, seeing as the more conventional Orange Peelbug is SEEN first and is part of a tutorial, but this is the one in Flavor Falls, so it is the first I will talk about! Ruby Peelbug is also the only Peelbug that did NOT have any indication of existing before the game’s launch! Orange and Green Peelbug were formally revealed in the Summer of Bugsnax, while Yellow Peelbug’s existence was implied in the thumbnail of the gameplay trailer! A very sneaky citrus over here!
Normally I would gush about Peelbugs as a whole here, but Ruby Peelbug is such a strange case that it has plenty to talk about already, I think! Ruby Peelbug is based on an orange, and while Orange Peelbug obviously is as well, Ruby is based on a BLOOD orange in particular! The “ruby” adjective may bring grapefruits to mind, but it certainly fits this creature, and its red peel is unmistakably not grapefruit-like at all.
Another unique thing about Ruby Peelbug is its location! I haven’t talked much about location because the Snax are the main thing here, but Snaktooth Island has four main biomes- a forest, beach, desert, and mountain- with each having two areas, one directly adjacent town and one further out. Ruby Peelbug is the only Peelbug found in the further area of its biome! It’s never seen in the beginning of the game, but to think, it could be hiding in its tunnel from the start of the adventure... you just don’t have the tool to flush it out yet!
Out of all Bugsnax, Ruby Peelbug is the absolute best for giving a Grumpus a round red clown nose!
