PEAKY BLINDERS: THE IMMORTAL MAN, dir. Tom Harper (2026)
“I’m not alone when I’m alone. Spirits show themselves to me. My dead daughter, Ruby, plays in the garden. I found her scarf hanging from a branch... where there was no scarf before. It could not have got there any other way. I saw Ruby again.”
“I just want to pick Ruby up and hold her in my arms, y’know? I miss the weight of carrying her.”
Tommy Shelby will always have a special place in my heart.
It’s controversial opinion but I loved and understood the ending of The Immortal Man. Tommy wanted to rest. I think many of us knew that this is going to happen.
I burnt her chair. The paint on the wood left a smell in the air. I didn't open a window. I quite like the smell.
Not yet... not yet. I have this work left to do because now I know... That I will change. That I have to change... and change for good.
Its no surprise Lizzie wasn’t mentioned in the movie. Like i said before, that relationship was more about Ruby. once she was gone, I never saw lizzie being part of his life. There was no question of a “so called” reunion some were hoping for. Toxic relationships are better ended!!
Ruby…was the beginning
…the middle
…and the end of it
Insp: S1 quote by Major Campbell to Grace “Thomas Shelby is the beginning, the middle and the end of this mission”
Got to rewatch the PB movie cause it's finally out on Netflix and it just makes me tear up how Grace is the one who is mainly featured in the flashbacks Tommy has just before he dies.
She has at least 9 scenes. Ruby has 4. Arthur, Charles and Polly have 1 each. Pretty sure no one else appears. (I may have some of this wrong since the scene is really quick, but I kept rewatching it and this is what I saw each time.)
Obviously, it isn't a competition and he loved them all in different ways but I love how they continued with this idea that Grace was the one for him. Oh, my heart💔
“Where is she? She’s with the doctor upstairs. Listen, Tommy. He said we shouldn’t come close to her, in case….in case of what? When she coughs, there’s blood...”
A/N: This is based on "The Sword in the Stone." Ty to @peakyswritings for requesting this as part of my fairytale challenge.

By the late 1930's the subtle whispers in Parliament had grown to sharp cries of protest on the streets of Birmingham. The message was clear, Thomas Shelby was no longer fit to serve his constituency.
Colorful rumors had long circulated, portraying him as a reclusive drunk who communicated with the dead. The truth wasn't far removed. Driven mad by grief and guilt, Tommy had lost a sense of purpose when his trusted advisor, Aunt Polly, was sacrificed on the altar of his ambition.
Indeed the atmosphere of Arrow House had grown dark, especially in the days after Charlie's departure for the front lines. Thirteen year old Ruby was left as the sole witness to her parents' misfortunes. And as any teenager might have done in her position, she often escaped to her Aunt Ada's home in London for respite.
As Tommy mourned, business took a downward turn. The repeal of Prohibition in America was a severe blow, made worse by a turf war in Boston which ended the Solomons' control of the opium trade. As a consequence, the revenue of Shelby Company Limited was slashed by half overnight.
Despite the grim outlook, Polly's son, Michael came forward to ease his cousin's burden. At least, that was how he described his plan to seize control of the company. And though he showed greater interest than both Arthur and Finn, Tommy didn't approve of someone who didn't share the Shelby name taking the helm. He felt the distinction important for continuity, not to mention the fact that he loathed Michael's smug sense of entitlement.
Therefore, Tommy sent Lizzie to preside over board meetings in his stead. It was an ill suited arrangement from the start, the family's petty squabbles soon driving her to the brink of insanity. When she could no longer look after Tommy's interests, she left for some place far away, never to return.
Unwilling to leave her home, Ruby stayed behind. The blind loyalty which Lizzie could not forgive, Tommy would not soon forget. He taught his daughter everything he could in the final years of his life. As a clever girl with good instincts, she showed great promise.
However, Ruby was woefully unprepared for her father's passing. His death left an open chair and suddenly everyone scrambled for his throne. She was content to let the men fight over the prize, never imagining herself, an eighteen year old girl, at the head of Shelby Company Limited.
As Tommy's funeral pyre smoldered, his last will and testament was read before the family gathered in his office. The solicitor stood at Tommy's desk, papers stacked before him like a precious sword in the stone. For these documents would soon grant privilege to one chosen individual.
Everyone in the room seemed to hold their breath as the words were read aloud for all to hear. The announcement proclaimed "Ruby Shelby" and the room fell silent. The teenage girl would be crowned as the new queen of the Shelby dynasty. But in that moment she wept, because she knew the sword of power was nothing more than a cross to bear, the Shelby curse.
