“ there’s always someone faster. ” Ruby & @cainevesson
there's something akin to honor flowing through her at being in the very presence of cain. a demon far older, far more notable than ruby. he's met their god - met the fallen angel that she worships so wholly. father of murder! she looks up at him with the hint of a smile on her lips, feeling like she's been given a chance in a lifetime to prove her worth. he isn't lord lucifer, but oh! he's so important still. a knight of hell.
"that may be so," answers the smaller demon truthfully, eyes flickering up towards cain's. "but i won't ever stop until i catch my prey." she knows so little about him now. rumors and speculation. a reputation that fills her with awe. "faster does not mean better," she adds, a little too filled with pride. she almost wants his praise - wouldn't that be crazy if the father of murder praised her? but she reigns it in, won't seem desperate for that bit of attention.
after all, ruby was one of the cogs in the machine that freed lucifer from his cage. returned from the emtpy for who knows what reason yet. she wonders almost idly if cain has heard what she had done to sam winchester. if he finds her schemes and machinations as brightly made as she had.
"i have never given up. not ever. and i won't stop now. i won't ever stop, not until lord lucifer reigns."
