Bird no. 258. Yeah well you're not my real mom . This is a haiku about brood parasites - that's when a bird lays an egg in another birds nest and gets the heck outta there! . There's no way around it, it's really not that good for the host bird. Some parasitic birds will even revenge murder if anything happens to their parasitic chick (a la cowbird mafia) - yikes! . It makes me wonder what that sweet little baby thinks? Probably just that it's hungry and that it belongs there just like anyone else! . At some point, it must realize that it's different, and that it must continue the cycle... what happens next? . Weird.
