Hazy eyes peered over the distant horizon line, marked by swampland. Wobbly legs carried him along the townhouses, taking in what's supposed to be his "new home". None of it was familiar. The smell certainly wasn't, given how meticulous about keeping it pristine he was at his actual residence. Perhaps calling it "home" would be a stretch, but it offered a base, at least. Nothing like this, when he was housed with two people he knew nothing about, with nary a bit of guidance to suggest to him how he was supposed to relate to them.
It threw him off balance, enough that he couldn't stay in there. Normally he abhorred being alone; being surrounded with nothing but his thoughts offered so little peace, given what they often told him, given what haunted every step as a result. At the moment, though, he couldn't let himself be around them. He could tell enough to grasp that they were whatever this world's equivalent of Lightners were, and it wouldn't do for him to make this about himself like he had so intimate a habit of doing.
His back slid against the townhouse's wall, sweat beading on his head as he tried to take it all in... And yet, no matter how hard he tried, his mind couldn't grasp it. It's like... it wasn't real. Sure, nothing about him was, but even more so here. The irony lay in the fact that it didn't feel real because he didn't know anything about it. Not a single, damn thing, besides what had been told to him when he was shipped out here by a kindly stranger. And that's precisely it, isn't it? Ralsei never went anywhere he didn't know anything about.
Maybe he should've spoken up to Kris sooner. He didn't know how this related to that, exactly, but surely his own inaction resulted in this. Like... the world was falling apart. The "worse" ending that he predicted was coming to pass. That distant world on that board that he saw, containing unknowns? He should've fought to know them.
He barely felt the brownstone. His paws skated so quickly on it, that he distantly noted that he brushed it over a loose piece. That was supposed to hurt. Ralsei knew what pain felt like. But... he couldn't bring himself to feel much of anything. Maybe that's further proof to substantiate the fact that none of this really existed. Maybe it was just a nightmare, and he'd wake up from it!
...but then, he'd felt like he'd been in a nightmare ever since he was "born". So maybe he'll never wake up.
