The Truth About The Grayston Twins
‘Are you, are you coming to the tree?’
There is something about the Grayston Twins that very few people know. In fact, the knowledge is only possessed by Xavier Grayston and Augustus Wilkes. The truth is that there is only actually one Grayston twin and it has been that it way for a very long time. It is a sad tale that begins over ten years ago. Rue and Willa were in care together and were the best of friends. Neither had made many friends as both struggled to make them. Each had one other friend though; Willa had Stephen and Rue had Charlie. One sunny day Stephen was stuck inside and the other three went outside to play. Rue had the idea to go and play in the woods nearby, a place that was forbidden to go into without supervision. The three friends trundled off into the woods and had a merry time climbing trees. The three were seeing who could climb the highest up an old oak tree when Willa lost her footing and slipped. She fell and landing badly, breaking her neck. The injury was quick and Willa wasn’t able to heal in time to live. Rue was distraught over Willa’s death and blamed herself. The little girl felt like she had lost everything. A year later Rue was kidnapped by Fenrir Greyback. It was all too much for the 8 year old to handle and something snapped inside of her. Rue subconsciously suppressed the memory of Willa dying and believed her twin to still be alive. Rue only got through the various ordeals of the next ten years because she believed that one day she might be reunited with Willa. When Rue escaped Fenrir and was found by Xavier her brain didn’t bring the memory back of Willa’s death. Instead Rue continued to think Willa was alive, to the extent that Rue was actually being Willa. Rue had a form of split personality disorder. Rue would be herself, and also Willa. Xavier and August quickly realised what had happened and tried their best to help her. None of the experts they took Rue too could cure her though and the verdict was that Rue would snap out of the delusion in her time. So, Xavier and August have been going along with it for Rue’s sake. Rue remembered the death of her twin though when she once again comes face to face with her old friend, Charlie. Seeing him triggered the memory and brought Rue back to a heart breaking reality.
