I hope in future to get these up earlier and provide a comprehensive summary of what happens each session. Including small snippets of notable (or funny) conversation and a better description of events. I may even encourage players to provide versions of events from their perspective (although that's what the journal pages will be for when I begin posting them)
AS it is, session took place in early February, so my memories are somewhat vague. Apologies for that fact.
Be aware also that Language, spelling and grammar may get a little rough, but I don;t recall anything really x-rated and if such things occur I'll try to tag it and warn people before cuts.
These may get long. if they get too long, so let me know and I'll take suggestions regarding formatting or breaking the posts up.
All images belong to their respective owners.
Enjoy.
Shackled City
Chapter 1: Life's Bazaar
Session 1
Our story begins on the Streets of the Cauldron. Rumours abound of a recent string of abductions. People of all races, ages and genders have been taken from their houses at night with no reliable witnesses appearing.
Five of our heroes, natives to the region and indeed, the city itself are out and about on various errands, pub crawls or less socially acceptable activities on this damp evening.
A cry of help rings through the night.
Luckily for the distraught citizen, all 5 of those who hear are the type of person to come to the aid of a distressed gentleman (fancy that).
Flanking the alleyway by the very nature of their arrival they encounter a young man of the cloth being menaced by three greasepaint hooligans.
Devlin quickly identifies them as members of the Last Laugh. A notorious thieves guild in the city (and his main rival as an entrepreneurial man of fluid ownership values himself)
Whoever these clown are, they have not endeared themselves with out party to be.
A punch to the gut silences the victim in a fit of coughing as one of the attackers growls "Stay away from the Orphanage" and one of his allies spots the onlookers and warns them to "bugger off"
The strapping half-orc paladin known as Horg steps forward and gives the muggers fair warning.
Their message sent, the trio flee with one last parting shot to the downed man, elbowing past the least intimidating group of men.
Second later Devlin and Enra heft the purses that they lifted from the ruffians as they rubbed shoulders and smirk in a knowing way at each other.
The group helps the man, who introduces himself as Rufus Laro, to his feet and are thanked and invited back to the Church of St Cuthbert to dry off and meet his superior.
Thinking they should escort him back anyway, the party agrees. Enra offers the purse he lifted to Rufus to do with as he sees fit.
Back at the church the party is welcomes and taken by an acolyte to an antechamber where they are provided with towels and hot drinks while Rufus goes to report.
The party introduces themselves to each other and just as they finish, are joined by a middle-aged priestess who introduces herself as Jenya Urikas
She thanks the party personally for protecting her associate and offers them an opportunity for work.
Rufus had been researching the newest kidnapping. Four orphans had been taken 3 nights before, and the church felt it was their duty to try and resolve the matter.
Sturdier investigators seem to be required however.
Offering money and alchemical support in the form of healing draughts she beseeches the party to investigate the matter and recover the missing children.
The party agrees and are given their first clue. A mystical riddle supplied by a relic of the church.
Azan quickly deduced they should check to see if there was any possibility that the locksmith who provided the orphanages locks had been compromised.
And the session ended there.
(this session was short as it included character creation, the next one is longer and introduces the last party member for now)
