Uncle Rob when did you get a gf'???????? I haven't looked through your blog in a while and ig I missed some big stuff!

It happened a couple of months ago! She... pretty aggressively pursued me lol. I kept saying that despite our mutual interest, I didn't think it would work, that it would probably be a bad idea for her, and that I wasn't interested in anyone under thirty, but every point I made about why it could be bad for her, she shut down.

(I once even told her we should cut contact for her sake--she laughed at me and was basically like, "Okay, if you're honestly not interested, that's fine. But you are, and all you're doing right now is telling me that I don't know what's good for me and that I shouldn't have agency over my own life decisions. You're saying you want to hurt me NOW because of you don't, you're scared you're going to hurt me later. So you're going to deny us BOTH something that might crash, but also might end up being great for both of us because of that fear. That doesn't make any sense, Rob. ")

So finally I told her that if she actually came to the Philippines, we'd give it a chance. And she did! And so far it's pretty damn good!

I have to admit that in some ways I am still waiting for the other shoe to drop and for her to change her mind.

I AM concerned about our age difference, but unlike in my previous relationship, this time I sought out expert/professional advice on what to expect, and how to make and keep things as healthy as possible, because there is so much of a chance of unhealthy mechanisms developing in age gap relationships even when it's unintentional (consensus seems to be that if we do our best to be conscious of potential pitfalls, heed expert advice, and genuinely keep each others' best interests in mind, that EITHER she will move on from me within five years, with this as an "adventure" chapter of her life with someone who helped her get away from a toxic situation, OR we could actually end up "happily ever after," with not much in between).

So here's hoping.

I go back to the doctor tomorrow. I anticipate probably another week on antibiotics and possibly more steroids, but at least I'm not doing as bad as I was. Hopefully I can kick this thing soon! The angelic @thesurestthing (aka Zoey) helps keep my spirits up. (Her, plus playing a paragon of virtue in Fallout 4 and Skyrim and saving the world from evil lol.)

Hey, sorry I'm not around as much as usual right now, but keep in mind that @thesurestthing and I JUST met in person and moved in together less than three weeks ago, so if I'm not around as much as usual, it's just because we're kind of preoccupied and taking some time to adjust to life together, okay?

That, and the place we're in now is temporary, so we're looking for something more suitable, and right now we kinda have to travel a couple of miles for reliable Internet access (hoping to change that part soon).

I'll be more active here again soon. In the meantime, take your meds, drink water, and in general do the stuff to take care of your physical, mental, and emotional health, please? I still love you guys; just think of this as your Uncle Rob taking a little honeymoon.
