With my paternal grandparents up for a little while, my mum, nan & I went off to the metro centre. My initial plan for the day was to go into Boots so I could pick up a foundation. Finally finding one that matched my skint one and cover up my scars, hyper pigmentation and blemishes. Turns out my tone is called “Spiced Sand.”
My nan though, was determined to spoil me. She insisted on buying the makeup for me. I was really touched by this. The woman I saw to help me with it all was so nice and helpful. She gave me a small sample along with eh two bottles I bought, a cleanser and some samples of these creams she thought would help with my skin. I’ve needed this for so long. I’m certain I have PCOS given all the symptoms. I haven’t gone to a doctor yet, I’m waiting until I’ve lost some more weight and until then I have to try and put up with agonising and sore skin. The reason I haven’t gone is to avoid the doctor simply dismissing me and saying “It’s because you’re fat.” and then doing nothing to help me. Because that happened to me when I went to ask why the hell I’m coughing up a load of phlegm.
But back onto the shopping today: While in Debenhams, I spotted this gorgeous peacock pin. I thought nothing of it and put it back. Then I find out my nan went and bought it for me! She once again said it was her way of treating me, since I don’t get to see her too often with her living in London. It proved useful as well, as the shirt I was wearing had buttons that kept coming undone around my boobs, so the pin proved useful in making sure my tits didn’t pop out.
Later on, while my mum was in House of Frasier, my nan and I had a look around WHSmiths, one of my favourite shops. I forgot how much stuff is in there compared to the local one. THAT is where I got the majority of my haul. While my Nan still insisted on paying for a couple of items, I bought the majority of it and came out really satisfied:
I saw the most gorgeous rug sack near the entrance. It’s the perfect colour, fabric. It’ll look nice both for casual and business. I am just loving this!
I got two lines notebooks. One smaller one with the London patterns on the cover. I figure I can use this to write down notes just for my graphic novel. Since the story is mainly set in London.
I saw the larger one saying one of my favourite phrases “Stay Wild, Moon Child”. I figure I can just use this one to journal some random personal shit. Fantasies, anything to make me happy. Just anything I like and for myself.
I bought two sketchbooks. One is technically a scrapbook, but the black pages got me excited. Since my friend, @sibera-the-wanderer, has been done some amazing work on black paper. Which has inspired me to have a go myself.
The other sketchbook has a white cover, allowing me to customising the cover however I like.
I saw this stunning wooden box containing so many different art and sketching supplies! It’s the most gorgeous things and I can’t wait to try them out.
Got a three-pack of blending stumps. I’ve never tried them, but with everything else I’ve bought, I figure these would be an appropriate addition.
I knew I had to have a look at the graphic novel section before leaving. I was torn between picking up Rivers of London and what I did get. It’s a book about comics. While I certainly have plenty of non-fiction books on the subject, this one caught my eye because of it’s size, but also because the inside contains a lot of illustrations with stuff form British comics. Like 2000AD and The Eagle, as well as stuff from MARVEL & DC. So it’s an interesting mix. And I adore looking up stuff on my country’s sequential art history - speaking as someone hoping to get their work published someday.
All in all, today turned out much better than I expected. I feel so lucky to have all of these now. I hope I can make some good art with them.
