"....?"
Some brush- some strange, intangible flutter against his senses, faint as the beating of moth's wings against a window, ever seeking a way to reach the light, the heat- the flame-
"...Who's there-?"
...and yet- it feels somehow-
familiar-

He stands on the wide terrace-style balcony of his Treno mansion, quietly tinkering with an ornate antique telescope. He swivels it, checks the angle through the lense, then swivels it again.
“Vali, sweetheart. Come here, I have something to show you.”
The blonde exhaled heavily, sitting on the cold cobblestone, back leaned up against what could either be someone’s house or an eclectic shop. Exhaustion washed over her like a dark rain, collecting in every cell until she just felt horribly heavy.
It had been at least one full day since her magic had fritzed out in the middle of her training ground, blurring her form and dropping her in the alleyways of Treno. She vaguely remembered the city from a visit or two with Freya or Zidane -- the memory was hazy at best, but there was definitely something familiar about the way the streets came to meet each other, or the wooden walkways above her head, or the fountain in the square.
Which, for the past few hours, she had avoided entirely -- for even she could recognize that, beside the fancy dress of the nobles, her sweatshirt and jeans and woven hat that would have been normal in her home world made her look virtually homeless.
She had enough working knowledge, and enough experience in being dropped in strange worlds, to have taken care of herself thus far. Gil was an almost universal currency, and she had enough coin to get herself a meal, but that had been forsaken at least eight hours ago. Sleep-deprived, sore, and with an aching lack of magical energy, she sat against the wall in the late afternoon sun, and her stomach rumbled.

((He’s met a couple of Vivis, actually! And honestly his reaction to Vivi upon figuring out his story is... kind of envy. Like. He’s so envious of these kids (Vivi and burmecianknight‘s Calisto in particular) who went through hell and had to do all these things to survive... but at the end of it all they’re still good people at heart. He’s so envious of that. Because he knows he’s not a good person anymore, and seeing these other kids who are still good people - he wonders why he wasn’t able to do that, and whether it means he was never a good person to begin with.))

Some herbs, a mushroom, and a flower -- the descriptions given, written in elegant script on the back of the map, were clear enough on what exactly she was looking for; yet where to even begin looking? Part of the quest itself was to familiarize herself with the surrounding area of Myrefall, yet even that alone was daunting. What if she got lost? How did she know that the fog surrounding the Water Crystal's domain would let her back inside again, or if it would just refuse her entry if she tried to return unsuccessful?
Slender fingers tightened around the edge of the map, thick parchment folding in her grip, and her frown deepened ever so as she raised her attention to the land before her. The fog lay just before her eyes, a long expanse of sightless wandering before one reached the other side -- all she had to do was walk forward and simply keep walking, and hope she might find the required items not too far away.
Yet worry still reflected in those cerulean pools, near as deep as the lake beneath her.
❝--...❞ An exhale, soft and quiet, for it felt that if she made too much noise everything might shatter around her. She had to do this, and do it right -- for her home, for the Crystals, for this world, for her own memories and those of all the rest who had been called to this place.
❝Okay... time to get going, then.❞
