Rumbelle + speeding (any 'verse)
So this is the final part of an ancient verse of mine that I’m finally finishing! Part One, Two
Lacey gripped the steering wheel of her sporty little car, letting out a pathetic sniffle as she blinked away a few stray tears. She was doing this for herself, it hurt now but it would hurt a lot less in the long run. Her foot pressed down on the gas peddle harder as she let out a choked sob
With tears blurring her vision as she sped down the road leading out of Stroybrooke she saw the wolf on the road too late. She turned sharply to avoid it but lost control as she did so, spinning until the car slammed into the sign welcoming people to the town no one knew existed. Her head lulled back, everything aching as she struggled to stay conscious. Lacey’s last thought before blackness claimed her was of her Gold’s smiling face as she told him they were expecting.
It felt like moments and years later when she opened her eyes again. He was there, her husband, the man she loved. I must be dead, Lacey thought to herself as he ran his hand down her cheek. Then she shifted and a stabbing pain lanced through her shoulder, just like the last time she’d been on this stupid road.
“Don’t move, sweetheart, I haven’t finished healing you.” Gold cooed gently, soothing her pain with his magic.
Her eyes widened, her hand going to stomach. “The baby?!” She asked, panic filling her. If her rashness had coast her their child she’d never forgive herself.
“Safe and healthy.” He reassured. “You’re just a bit banged up from the crash.”
She nodded, her relief making her lightheaded. Lacey hadn’t even realized she’d lost consciousness again until she awoke in Gold’s arms as he carried her to his undamaged car. He was being so gentle and loving, it was killing her. He didn’t love her, he loved Belle, she was just a cheap imitation.
“No, darling, don’t say that.” Gold whispered, kissing her forehead, replying to her unintentional confession.
“But it’s true.” She said quietly. “It’s why I tried to leave, I can’t live with you knowing you love her and not me. I can’t stand loving you and know you don’t love me back!” Lacey sobbed, another confession leaving her lips without permission.
“Lacey, please.” He said, his voice quivering. “I do love you, and I love Belle, but that doesn’t mean I love you any less. You’re two sides of the same wonderful coin. Totally different and yet stunningly alike, I love you, all of you.”
Gently he set her on her feet beside the car and cupped her cheek in his hand as the other went to her hip to steady her. With tears in her eyes she leaned up to kiss him, her hands on his shoulders to help anchor her to reality. With their kiss came a startling burst of light and magic that filled the quiet night.
Belle pulled back and looked into her Rumple’s eyes a bright smile pulling at her lips. “I love you too, all of you, Rumple.” She whispered before sharing another happy kiss with him, her true love.
