I know I said last quesion about this but I can’t help it. Who said this in regards to his stabbing and the recovery? The drs or mako? ‘a sword went through your stomach, Bolin! If you keep moving you’ll open your intestines! Lie back down!‘ the part you italics. Anything else about the aftermath of the stabbing? How long was he in hospital made to rest? What about around knifes? Do Mako or opal or others notice any emotional chances in him in the recovery of this trauma? This is the REAL last 1
Oh Mako said that, absolutely. The doctors would use a little more tact, I think, but Mako would go off on Bolin after the 3rd, 4th, 5th time Bolin tried to get out of bed by himself. Because waterbending healing is way faster than real world surgery and natural healing, I don’t think he’d be there for more than a week. The problem with the Eruption incident is not so much the burn as the chi depletion and toxic inhalation. The burn was really bad, but not a cause for bed rest, just normal rest. He was so exhausted after all that bending and breathing all those toxic gasses that it took longer to recover, even with waterbending to help. But the Run Through doesn’t require as much hospital time, he just needs to take it easy and rest for a few weeks, only light exercise and no heavy lifting, that kind of stuff.
The knives thing... I’ve answered a post about it before, but I’m going to modify my answer a little. Knives in general are not a trigger per say, like a butter knife at the dinner table isn’t going to bother him, but the sudden flash of light on a blade out of the corner of his eye will startle him, and he might accidentally throw a rock or something. So for a few weeks or months he stays out of the kitchen when other people are cooking. He’s fine if he’s cooking because he can see and control the knife at all times; it’s with others he gets nervous. He also avoids any street performers who use knives or throwing stars in their act. Just to be on the safe side.
Mako and Opal immediately notice the aversion to the kitchen (Bolin loves the kitchen) and when he jumps at flashing blades. Actually everyone notices that one. But it’s something he has to get over eventually, and he will over time. Mako and Opal (and Pema since she does a lot of cooking at the air temple, and she’s highly intuitive) will just let out a, “Hey, I’m grabbing the knife now” when they’re cooking and he’s nearby just to give him a heads up. But his aversion doesn't last forever.
Mako doesn’t like to talk about that day at all; that moment seeing Bolin covered in blood and officers keeping him away reminded him too much of his parents. It was like his worst nightmares coming true, and he would prefer to forget this ever happened, so they don’t talk about it after Bolin has recovered. But being honest and talking about people’s problems is Opal’s whole thing; she’d talk about it all day long if it made Bolin feel better (but it’s better if she doesn’t. Anytime the topic lands on Kuvira for too long she tends to go off). The stabbing just gets added in to his whole guilt trip about the entire thing, so they address everything at the same time. Also, Opal likes to remind him that if Bolin hadn’t been there, Huang probably would’ve killed her, so she’s immensely thankful for him and what he did was very brave and quick-thinking, but please never do it again. That last bit always makes Bo smile though.
Heyyyy question— so I am a music major and for my final I am invited to a design run through. What can I expect? What notes to take?
So, you are designing music for the play? Or just watching a play and making your own deign?
So, if you’re designing for the play:
Meet with the director first and get a feel for what kind of music they want for the production.
Then watch a run through of the play and take notes on where you feel music fits best and what kind of music fits best in those scenes. I’ve actually seen composers write music while watching the run but you do what works best.
After the run go home and record some music you made for certain scenes then meet with the director again to get their feed back:
Theatre terms I used incase you aren’t familiar with their meaning:
Run through: A ‘performance’ of the entire play, where the entire play is ran with minimal stopping so the actors and designers can get a feel for the full play.
Production: Another common word for the whole play including design elements, actors, blocking, crew etc.
Best of luck!

ACGC: Day One [fin. Aug 24 2017] Jude of Rosebud My first real “day” actually took multiple real-life days - I had been busy this past week, so it took me a while to get around to completing Tom Nook’s fantastic trial. I didn’t do much else - I did enjoy speaking with the villagers, though, as I had forgotten the difference in dialogue between ACGC and newer versions.
I was happy to find Stella in my town, as she is in my town on New Leaf (I acquired her using an Amiibo Card reader) Of course, I planted Nook’s flowers and trees near my own house. I can’t decide what to go for with my house theme, but I’ll figure it out in due time!
