Writing DS9 AU fics where you fav ship still ends up together.
I’m in desperate need of fluffy Garashir smut, do you have any favorite fics?
Oh gee, I can be a bit of a melancholy fella, so fluffy smut... hmn...
Mint Car by tinsnip (@words-into-worlds). How can you NOT list this one when talking about feel good fics?
Transection of the Vena Cava by @respocked and Runavik. Maybe not as outright fluff, given it gets a little introspect-y, but physically cozy against all odds with amazing metaphor/imagery by respocked that has no right bringing about as much feels as it does.
the spy who came in from the cold by @ectogeo-rebubbles. Gotta have a little O'Brien torture here.
Worth Waiting For by Syaunei. Time travel orb experience? Silver fox Julian meeting young Obsidian Order probe Garak? Long lasting emotional-mental formative experience for Garak? Yes, please!
I'll Run for You by yours truly. Wasn't gonna put something of mine, but hey, I think it's the fluffiest acceptance-rooted smut I've written so I'll cheerleader it.
And then bonus mention fluff. These aren't smut, but:
Happy Birs'sday, Doctor Bashir and Happy Itask'haran, Mister Garak by @alphacygni are... divine. I am beating myself up for not yet having recommended these to anyone (prime example of things falling out of my mind). If you want fluff, this is it. I read them for the first time while camping and watching the sun set over the ocean, and isn't that just the perfect way to describe how they make you feel.
Pouring Just a Hint by @susiecarter. More worldbuilding than smut, but damn if it doesn't have fluff coming out the wazoo. Absolutely perfect in all ways, with Garak indulging himself by imagining Julian is his, planning on Julian never knowing.
(Despite musing on this hard, I know there's awesome ones I've forgotten. I need to get better at bookmarking. I also tried to tag authors. If I miss someone, let me know!)
So not to be woe is me, pay attention*, but…
A fic I worked crazy long on for an exchange ended up getting ghosted by the recipient. Normally I’d try to be “water off a duck’s back”, but it’s the second time, and, tbh, I’m damn proud of it (I really ran with it and it ended up substantial).
So if anyone likes Original Works with guileless, lonely royals, nefarious power bottoms, and bad endings precisely because the main characters accept them, may I humbly suggest My Love, My Whelp?
*except kinda. I’m posting about it, after all
Said dead dove:
Dance the Double Jeux (7963 words) by Runavik Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (TV), The Magnus Archives (Podcast) Rating: Explicit Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings Relationships: Julian Bashir/Elim Garak, Julian Bashir/Danny Stoker/Nikola Orsinov Characters: Julian Bashir, Danny Stoker, Nikola Orsinov, Elim Garak, The Stranger (The Magnus Archives) Additional Tags: Body Horror, Erotic Horror, Mindfuck, Psychological Horror, The Stranger Fear Entity (The Magnus Archives), Body Dysphoria, Dissociation, Depersonalization, Julian Bashir Needs a Hug, Weirdness, (seriously this might be the weirdest thing I've written), Augmentation Angst, slow burn corruption, Self-Harm, Protective Elim Garak, Mild Gore, Bad Ending, (…for now), Kafkaesque Sex, (thats… the best I can describe it), Dead Dove: Do Not Eat Series: Part 1 of Facsimiles Summary: "You're not Jules Bashir,” it says it gently, like Julian might spook. “He died on an operating table when he was six years old. They scooped him out and poured you in, and you've been pretending ever since." It moves closer, and Julian notices its footsteps don't quite make the right sound against the floor. "Can you remember being Jules, Beautiful Thing? Really remember?" Julian can't. Or: Julian has always known he's built, not born. How can The Stranger— master of things pretending to be human— resist such a perfect offering? (DS9 setting with TMA fear entities. TMA knowledge not strictly needed to read/understand. If anything, it'll read like a particularly trippy 'planet of the week' episode)
Mandatory work computer updates = work-sanctioned fanfic power hour.
Does anyone consider themselves a fic summary aficionado who would like giving their two cents on two summary ideas (OW)? I am so deep in the forest I’m practically part of the bark.
