At least Garnet hadn’t put another leash on her.  Small blessings, Peridot had so few of them lately that being able to reach her tools was essentially enough right now.

At least until she bumped a hand into Amethyst’s leg, the other gem practically sitting right on top of her work.  “...Are you waiting for me to refer to more of my tools?” she asked after a moment.

Jasper let out a grunt as she pulled Amethyst onto her lap, an arm wrapping around the short Gem. Jasper knew she should have destroyed Amethyst - she was defective, a runt, she was useless and weak, but she was also the only Gem that wasn’t a complete abomination on Earth. Well, that she could find. She had no idea where Peridot was still.

“I’m not going to kill you.” She stated, though her voice was monotonous. She felt pathetic, clinging to a defective Gem out of sheer desperation for some kind of comfort. She may as well be begging the Pearl to pay attention to her, or the fusion to acknowledge her.

It was low, and the fact that she was scared enough to sink to that level was terrifying enough in itself.
