The palace was built in two periods, from 1736 until 1740 and from 1764 until 1768. The reception room at Rundāle Palace, the 18th century baroque residence of the Dukes of Courland, Latvia. The grand room includes frescoes of Venus and her beloved Adonis. To the left of the room stands the most beautiful black lacquer commode made by the cabinet maker to the French Court, Jean Henri Riesener.
