“Teardrop (Rune Lindbæk Götet Versjon)” - José González
Rune Lindbæk, Strelka Bar, Moscow, 2017
In NORWAY IN SEARCH OF ARCTIC DISCO
Camp Cosmic is by far the music festival I missed to visit this summer. located in a forest outside of Leipzig July 22-24. The festival started as an outdoor event in rural Sweden 2011. Mix by norwegian spacedisco-producer Rune Lindbæk from Camp Cosmic 2015 at a Gotland in Baltic Sea.
Rune Lindbæk’s edit of Key of dreams' massive 1982 italo version of Toto's Africa is the first track of the album Klubb Kebabb released 2007 by Noid Recordings, another Idjut Boys label. The whole album is underrated but the edit of Africa is an all time classic in the editing business combining the instrumental 12″ version with the vocal one in an intricate way.
Another spacey track from the utlimate album Söndag released 2000 on Repap, a sublabel to legendary british Paper Recordings which is one the first labels outside Norway to release norwegian space disco, 1997.
This albumrelease from 1997 might be the real beginning of norwegian adventure in space. The constellation included Rune Lindbæk, Torbjørn Brundtland, Gaute Drevdal and Ole Mjøs. The album is minor classic including beatiful jazzy tracks and all of the space elements so typical for the norwegian movement. Love this album.
More norwegian wood from the great, great era of space disco.
