what's a "two-word name" and how is it different from regular names?

So, it’s a name that is made up of ~two words~? And most Niyaui names are one word long?

(Unless you’re blue, in which case the ~average first name~ is 3.6 words long!)

For example, all of the characters in Runefire have two-word names!

Tell me about the Moonstone crackfics.

Milky Moonstone from Runefire, you mean?

So! Those! Well the ones I was talking about are ~really weird~! So be warned!

So there’s this tiny circle of authors that ran with of a couple of details:

Milky Moonstone has a tragic backstory with a ~mysteriously absentee~ father, and he’s cagey about his childhood! This looked like a plot hook to me, but we won’t know the details unless the authors decide to ever get around to that sequel!

Milky Moonstone said the magic of his tattoo is that it’s “defensive” and it helps wound healing! And during one of the “Arboric and Majoram do exposition” scenes, a few details are mentioned! It “…keeps it clean, preventing infection…” and “increases cell turnover”!

And I’m going to put the rest under a cut because ~infohazard~! (If you’ve never heard of the conspiracy theory before!)

So the final thing that these crackfics use is that moonstone is actually made up of two minerals! Albite, which is the fanon name for Milky’s mom! And orthoclase, also known as ~pink granite~!

That is to say, this particular series of crackfic proposes that Milky is a secret red!

The idea is that his tattoo acts like a sort of constant decontamination? If I remember the ANs correctly, the fic authors went back and wrote a few more after ~actual decontamination~ became a thing? 

And that’s ~pretty weird~! I mean, Runefire is a fantasy series, so I guess a completely fantastical idea like ~secret reds~ isn’t ~completely~ out of place?

But still! It’s like reading a Wings of Water fic, and then suddenly the author introduces the plot point of how the second moon is ~totally not real~ (you all know which one I’m talking about)!

So! That’s the story of how I read too much fanfiction and ended up stumbling over the ~weirdest crackfics ever~!

Here are fans who got Cadmium Chrysoberyl’s and Milky Moonstone’s tattoos!

Cadmium is a terrifying bureaucratic ~force of nature~! (And Milky Moonstone get’s the ~weirdest~ crackfics!)

So, on the topic of Cadmium, I’m not sure if I like the way her canon backstory focuses on the death of her wife, and her subsequent ~obsession~ with protecting their daughter! (The authors say her constant overprotective frenzy towards Aureolin Amber whenever she’s mentioned was supposed to make us a little uncomfortable, and it really does! But is that a good thing?)

I’ve seen Runefire get accused of using the Orange in the Refrigerator trope because of Ginger Spessartite’s death, and I can see where they’re coming from! But I don’t think it really makes sense, given that several of the main characters and half of the writers of Runefire are orange! So let’s not actually restart ~that particular argument~, please!

So, I’m reading this new Runefire fic, and it’s really good! It’s the most ~comprehensive canon divergence AU I think I’ve ever seen~ in this fandom! And there’s lots of ~cool Violet Quartz action~!

Camellia would have really liked it.
