Mice in your home now get their own doors
A door is one of the things that makes a building unlike any other structure. All the doors in buildings are intended for human use, no matter which species actually enter and exit. We want to keep encouraging cross-species interactions, and give the smallest members of our communities the recognition they deserve.
Soon, you'll be able to see, smell, and hear the mice in your home, and they will be able to see, smell, and hear you in return. Each mouse will have its own door, instead of one large door intended to accommodate all visitors. And yes, you'll be able to welcome multiple mice through a single door.
If a door falls into disuse due to illness, injury, or death, another mouse will be placed into your home. You won't lose mice just because they die.
Past mice will stay in your home-- including corpses. Removing all of those would be... a lot.
This is just the beginning. More changes are coming as we keep building this out - stay tuned!
It's very clear that you all have strong feelings about your homes and about this change. We hear you. The passion people have for their homes is one of the things that makes them special.
As this rolls out over the next few days and you explore it, we'll keep infesting your homes with new mice, so please stay in your homes, and do not leave.
Your presence has always been our favorite part of your home, whether you're a person or a mouse, and nothing about this change is meant to limit that.
If you'd like to discuss this change, leave a note in one of the mouse holes and we'll follow up with as many of you as we can. We want to work with you to put more mice in your home.
...the HANTAVIRUS???
madison, wi's police department just executed a man in the street near where i grew up. news sources all say "at least one injured" for now but apparently they tased him and then shot him three times at point blank range per a video posted to instagram. they're supposed to be doing a press conference right now. i'll update with a news article once they reflect the situation more accurately.
the press conference can be watched live here:
MADISON (WKOW) — Madison police are planning to hold a news conference Wednesday afternoon after a shooting downtown.
At least one person is injured after a police shooting on Williamson Street and South Baldwin Street on Madison’s Near East Side Wednesday.
MPD's press conference states the civilian has passed away from life-threatening injuries inflicted by one officer, and that two officers (including the one who discharged his firearm after the use of a taser) were reportedly injured, one confirmed to have been injured by a knife this man was carrying. The deceased has only been identified as a man in his 30s at this time.
ETA Please be advised that the video at the top of this article contains graphic footage of the incident.
Madison's chief of police says an officer in Wisconsin's capital city shot and killed a man who had injured him with a knife while resisting
there hasn't been an officially released name, but community members have said his name is corey ruiz. they are also encouraging anyone who lives in the area to attend the next common council meeting on august 4th at 6:30 and support funding for the independent police monitor

caption by thinkajen: Happy Birthday, Sweet one. I wished for you when I was 12, and because of Dad and Twin Peaks, you arrived. I am so grateful to you and to Sheryl Lee, and to all who made your world a place we could feel, if not relate to. And to those who relate, it seems the Diary made them feel seen. It was hard to write your pain, but in that process, as much as in your joy, I was able to investigate my own. That was what 12 year old me needed. I am so glad, Laura Palmer, that you were born.

"warm, shallow seas" is one of the most beautiful phrases in paleontology and it's everywhere... these mollusks lived in warm, shallow seas... scientists think that photosynthetic life evolved in warm, shallow seas... in that era the Earth was covered by warm, shallow seas...
I wish I was resting by an antediluvian warm, shallow sea

the thing about reading ligotti's work is that my experience as a chronically suicidal person has very little to do with The Existential Horror Of Human Consciousness--e.g. if we are all puppets, there's not much we can do about it anyways and i'm certainly not interested, personally, in things like species-wide suicide or hard-line anti-natalism. however. it is very fun to play in this space, regardless of my personal beliefs.
ALSO i have, i presume, a much more lenient stance towards the concept of "plagiarism" than your average person, but i still think nic pizzolatto should have either quoted this stuff with his full chest, or actually apologized at some point lol
i can't touch it, even though it's mine 🏚️🩸🔥

that's MS. substance abuser to you
sorry women sorry sorry sorry you can kick me really hard in the head
the thing about being bullied for being weird as a kid is that even if you've always embraced being weird your brain is still always looking for the line where it's too much. you can be as proudly and intentionally weird as you want and you can love being weird but your mind is still convinced there's a point where you get too weird and people start treating you like a weird looking bug again. also it feels like you reach that point 500 times a day even if everyone you've spoken to today found you pleasant and likable and even if you're completely alone in your house with nobody looking at you at all.
