“’Scuse me, can you reach that candy bar for me...? The one on the ledge there. I can’t quite get it.” Kay holds her Halloween pail tight as she tugs on this person’s sleeve. They’re another human, just like her, but tall enough to reach at least a windowsill.
(The next costume she chooses is going to be one that makes her taller.)
And though she’s pretty sure she’s never met this human before, somehow this exchange feels familiar. Maybe it’s her human eyes not being as good as her elven ones, but she can’t quite place them.
“I’ve got kind of a weird question, too, if you don’t mind. Is there any chance we’ve met before...?”
