The best article on running I've read in a long time
I'm making this mandatory reading for any future clients.

This. this. this. this.
And so many people ignore a lot of those things. But here's my advice: DON'T.
Especially important and close to my heart is #1: "MISTAKE 1: START TOO FAST". When I was group coaching this was such an issue but honestly, so few people listened to me and took me seriously. I suppose my age (and sometimes gender) had something to do with it. But it's golden advice. And my apologies for being rude but you're kind of a child if you're starting out like a cheetah only to fade, in a freaking training run. Get your ego in check and your head out of your ass. Training is for training.
And "MISTAKE 11: TRAIN AT GOAL PACE". People love to choose their goal time ahead of race day. Sometimes it's MONTHS before. Like... several months. But how can you know what's going to happen months down the road? First off, if you're too ambitious it can lead to disappointment. Second, you figure out race pace as time goes on. Your fitness improves and you shouldn't be trying to TRAIN at goal pace at the start of training.
Anyhow, great article and great advice on how to fix those mistakes.
A must-read for every runner.
