I didn’t get this because I needed a book about drawing birds. For my money, the best book for that is the Laws Guide to Drawing Birds by John Muir Laws. But more about that later. I got this book because it’s just a cute little well-designed book. It has a vellum cover over an illustrated boards, and it has lots of little bird sketches and thumbnails. So, it’s good for inspiration, but I wouldn’t trust it to be particularly helpful. And at 5.5” x 6.5”, it’s probably handy for field sketching, but it is hard to read.

We all know Edgar Allan Poe as a master of the macabre, but now he’s also a self-help guru. Poe for Your Problems: Uncommon Advice from History's Least Likely Self-Help Guru will be published in hardcover, e-book, and audio book on September 7 via Running Press.
Written by journalist Catherine Baab-Muguira, the 256-page darkly comedic self-help book will teach you how to say "nevermore" to your problems. The synopsis is below.
Of all the writers anywhere, Poe might be the least likely person you'd ever turn to for advice. His life was a complete dumpster fire: he married his cousin; got fired from one job after another; constantly feuded with friends and rivals; and he was always broke. But that’s also precisely the point. Though Poe failed again and again, he also persevered.
Drawing deeply on his works and life, Catherine Baab-Muguira takes the familiar image of Poe in a new and surprising direction in this darkly inspiring self-help book. Despite what you might think, Edgar Allan Poe is the perfect person to teach you to say "Nevermore, problems!" and show you how to use all the terrible situations, tough breaks, bad luck, and even your darkest emotions in novel and creative ways to make a name for yourself and carve out your own unique, notorious place in the world.
An inspirational tale for black sheep everywhere, Poe for Your Problems will teach you how to overcome life’s biggest challenges to succeed at work, love, and art—despite the odds and no matter your flaws.
I recently acquired a collection of books from a gentleman named Dr. Walter Kornbluth. It would appear that Dr. Kornbluth had a fondness for the sea and a particular fascination with mermaids. The open volume shown here is Mermaids, by Kerry Colburn. It is a handsome book with an eclectic assortment of artwork and quotations from classical literature.
Hello ! I just saw your post with your Landing Party Cat (love it ❤) and i wish to know : where did you find such a good replica of the communicator ?
Aaah thank you so much!! Lol it always surprises me how many notes my cat posts get! 😂😂🥰🥰🥰🥰
The communicator is the "Star Trek Light-and-Sound Communicator RP Mini" by Running Press / Chip Carter - it's available through Amazon, Walmart, etc. (the link should take you to RP's website, and that page has several links to where it's sold). I also have their mini TNG tricorder; both were given to me as gifts but all their Trek stuff seems to be really reasonably priced. ☺
It's fairly small (about 4 inches when the cover is closed)--not as big as the Diamond Select replica (which is a lot more expensive... and I *think* has Bluetooth capabilities?). I have small hands so I got a pic with a ruler, too, so you can get a better sense of size: 😂
It comes with a cute little booklet with info about the TOS communicators, too! (Ensign Kittycat is only pretending she can read... she just likes the pictures 🥰)
This is the whole kit 'n' kaboodle:
It's a fun little accessory, and the buttons make a couple different sound/light effects. 🤩 Anyway, I hope this helps!! 😄🖖💛💙❤
Five trips, two cousins, one family feud, and a summer that will change their lives forever.
It's bad enough that estranged cousins Becka and KJ see each other at their grandfather's funeral, but when he leaves them a bucket list of places to visit together over the summer, so they can earn their inheritance, it seems like things are about to get much worse.
However, with each trip the cousins complete -- like riding mules into the Grand Canyon or encountering a bear and a hot tour guide at Yellowstone -- they steadily learn about and begin to trust one another. That is until the truth behind Grandpa's bucket list, and their family feud, is revealed, testing Becka and KJ far beyond their limits.
Will they find a way to accept each other or will their grandpa's wish to mend his divided family end up buried alongside him inside his grasshopper green casket?
