I’m going to start running next week/this weekend. (After this dreaded period) Incase you don’t want to see/hear about it(for whatever reason), you can block the tag “Evo runs” /“Evo goes running” !!
Ima use it to log my runs and my workouts and all that shi.
Aswell as motivate myself bc if I see people reminding me about it, I might actually do it for more than a day!!
Officially did 7 miles today!! 😳 The first few miles felt amazing. I didn't have to stop to walk until around mile 4 which is progress. I ran these slow because I didn't want to die. I walked a whole lot around the end of mile 5/beginning of mile 6 because I desperately needed water and was trying to get to the nearest water fountain. But I ran the whole last mile! Then I had to get on the light rail train while I was dripping sweat to get back home 😵 they sure didn't like me. Maybe I won't die running this dumb race after all.
Ran this morning after not running for a week. This half marathon training is hard business. Sometimes I wish I lived in Manhattan just so I could always run on flat ground because the hills to get back to my house totally blow! Successfully said no to the chocolate cakes in the office pantry.
Why is it that skirts are work appropriate but shorts are not?
It’s stupid hot out today. I managed 2.7 miles this morning and at 6 am it was already 80 degrees!
I’m testing out new running apps cause I feel like I want a bit more than what Nike + is currently giving me. Used Strava this morning but didn’t have it set up properly so it didn’t prompt me on my miles and it didn’t auto pause. It said I ran both my miles in under just under 10 minutes.(what!!! That is pretty good for me) I’ll have to dig in later and give it another try since I fixed the settings.
Tomorrow is a rest day!!!! (After two runs and I’m already excited for rest day. It’s going to be a long 11 weeks)
well my knees are pretty wrecked. :(
They didn’t hurt while I was hiking and I was utterly shocked --- but I guess between all the hiking coupled with the cross country flight - then immediately jumping back on a bike to commute and running my knees just didn’t want to take it.
Ive been managing patellofemoral syndrome or what a lot of people call runners knee since I was 13 years old. a total result of training too hard, too fast, and too young. My muscles didn’t really develop as best as they should and when you look at my knees they turn inward and the cartilage behind my knee has worn down and causes the bones to sometimes grind. It causes me a lot of pain when the weather is bad or when I work too hard, bike, climb stairs, etc. It was what prompted my doctor to urge me to quit running track, quit skateboarding, quit anything that puts stress on my knees. I didn’t always listen.
So I’m going to take it easy today and tomorrow - ice, compress, medicate, walk easy, no bike - and hopefully my knee won’t be in crazy pain on Saturday.
The first step...
