Physical Therapy Updates (+I'm now a registered behavior technician!!)
10/18/22
I had a great day today. I had physical therapy at 1 pm. I am still not cleared to run (I knew I wouldn't be), but we have added some eccentric hamstring exercises. Moving up in the world from isometric hammy stretches.
So, the new mode is alternating days between an elliptical workout (which I now get to do for 25 minutes instead of 20) and eccentric hamstring workouts (hamstring curls/hamstring slide outs and weighted single leg RDLs). Once or twice a week, I will throw in some isometric hammy stretches. Between the elliptical and the eccentric hamstring exercises, I will sprinkle in abs and hip abductors/flexors to continue strengthening the areas surrounding my hamstring.
Even though I am dying to run, I know being patient and doing physical therapy correctly will benefit me in the long run (ha). Not listening to my body is what destroyed my leg in the first place. Think of all the miles I will run if I put in the work and follow the program now!
I took the RBT exam (85 questions) today which is for ABA therapy. I passed! I am now a registered behavior technician (which comes with a raise and a pullover with my job, always a great plus).
I took my little brother out to dinner tonight too. We went to a ramen place about an hour from us. It was super yummy. I love places that can make gluten free food not taste gluten free. I love catching up with my little brother even more. It was good for me and hopefully for him too.
(And I scheduled a job interview for a gym today! I am looking for a second job to make some more money.)
