Hello, hello, hello!
Sorry I have been completely MIA. I'm terrible at managing two blogs... I wish I had figured out how to link them before I created this blog, but alas, I did not and have to log in & out whenever I want to post on either blog.
I have been super busy this summer with work, sorority, friends, and a potential new love interest. It's too early to tell about that, so I won't say anything.
I've been trying really hard to choose healthier options when I go out to eat, but summer time in Chicago just screams food trucks, food festivals, and trying out all the great eats the city has to offer via patio dining! However, there have been a lot more healthier options opening up in Lincoln Park such as Freshii, Blue Door Farm Stand, My Fit Foods, Protein Bar, etc. One of my sorority sisters works at Freshii, so I decided to pay her a visit last week to try out some of their healthy bowls! It was absolutely delicious. I'll post a picture via my Instagram in a few.
In other news, that same sorority sister and I have decided to sign up for a half marathon. This will be her first half marathon and my second. We will be participating in the Chicago Half Marathon on September 7th. I am extremely excited to be training for another race. I, unfortunately, did not run at all this winter after my full marathon, so the training has had a slow and rough start. But I love that feeling after a race, so I can't wait for September to roll around and participate in this upcoming race. I'll be going for a run to the lake after I get off of work in a few hours!
I will also try my hardest to update this blog as much as possible. To all my new followers, welcome! Thanks for coming on this journey with me. To all my older followers, thanks for sticking by me as I keep going MIA.
Until next time!
Celebratory pizza with some of my favorite humans tonight. We’re finally done with Advertising Campaigns!
Also, Run, Veas, Run turned 1 today! Woo hoo! I can't believe it's already been a year! Thanks for all of your support.
I'm back!
Hi everyone! Sorry for lacking on posts, but I forgot to mention that I was in Ireland for spring break a couple weeks ago. After getting back, we went straight into spring quarter & it's been non-stop ever since.
Ireland was absolutely amazing. The food and whiskey was great! With that being said, I need to get back on track. I've been back in the gym and eating clean again. Traveling took a huge toll on my body because I think jet lag doubled up on me when I got back. I spent a week out sick and couldn't eat so I need to get back into my eating schedule again.
Anyway, hope everyone had a great week! It's gonna be a beautiful weekend in Chicago.
I just got my March ipsy bag! Did you? It's great! I just signed up for it so it's my first one. I'm so excited to try all the products. :)
YESSSS it's amazingggg
Hello, hello!
This is a super late (or super early) post, but I just wanted to give you all an update on my progress.
This weekend has been an extremely long, tiring, stressful, and disappointing weekend. I leave for Ireland in two weeks so I spent most of Saturday morning running errands for my trip. Then I had work from 4:30 to midnight as a server, so at least I was moving, on my feet, and carrying heavy items.
Sunday was a jam packed sorority filled day. So I was out of my house from 11am til about 10pm. It was exhausting, and I'm not going to lie -- A LOT of stress eating went down. I know, I know, it's terrible! But I am ONLY human! I will make mistakes and yesterday was definitely a big one.
However, today after my internship I went straight to Mariano's and picked up some groceries to make sure that I stay on track in terms of clean eating for the next two weeks before my trip. Then I went to the gym around 9pm -- did cardio and arms today. I had a really great workout! I'm dealing with a lot of stress, so it really gives me some relaxation in working out. I feel like every time I do arms, I have a really great workout. It's probably my favorite part of my body to exercise (then it's the booty). Afterwards, my friend and I went to the grocery store one more time to pick up some things and I got chocolate almond milk for my post-workout drink. Chocolate milk has enough carbohydrates for your body to metabolize post-workout. It also has a great amount of protein and just enough sugar to keep everything balanced.
Tomorrow is going to be a long day because finals are next week, so I am not sure if I will be able to fit in a workout. But I'll definitely be sure to eat clean!
Hope everyone had a good start to their week!
Hello, hello!
Hi everyone! Sorry for the extremely long hiatus. My life has been a bit crazy the last three-four months. And I have to admit, I have not been staying on the right track after I ran my marathon. I don't even think I talked about my marathon. There was a huge feeling of indifference because I had a really rough run that morning. The weather was perfect, but I was just not in the best state of mind or body. I didn't finish within the allotted time, which really put me in a bad mood. But I did finish. Which is something to really be proud of, I'd say!
With that said, even though my life is nowhere near slowing down, I have decided that I can't have all aspects of my life be completely shambly. So I have convinced my best friend to get my same gym membership so we can work out together and motivate each other. I have been sticking very well to the 5-6 small meals per day. I've cut out soda from my daily intake, and working on chips... it's really hard, guys.
I am at my heaviest I've EVER been in my life, but within a week of working out I've lost 2 pounds which I am very proud of. I plan on continuing this healthy eating and work out regime.
I just know I can push myself this time to really do it. Lose the weight and KEEP IT OFF. I did it once this past summer while training for the marathon, I can do it again for sure.
