it had been long overdue since rupert and sandrine spent some time together. it was understandable, they were both busy with their own lives and, to put it nicely, she was hoping that the planets would align and they could finally match their schedules. she might have helped destiny a little bit, taking her entire morning off so they could enjoy themselves. but those were just details. it was not everyday that alessandra had someone to chat with, outside of her employees and brand representants over the phone. she looked down at her phone one last time, hoping to see a notification from him pop up, but instead, she noticed a familiar silhouette standing by the door. excitedly, she jumped on her feet, smiling from ear to ear.

"over here!" the woman mouthed, her small hand waving so he could spot her among the other tables, although, who would truly be able to ignore her presence? she had been shaking her legs so fast the water in her glass splashed over slightly and she gave a quick look to the door every time someone would walk remotely close to it. she was not known for her subtlety. “hi! so good to see you!” she exclaimed, a little too loud to her own liking, when she pulled her friend into a warm hug. “‘was waiting for you before i ordered anything, i hope you don’t mind.”

“Roo is the most adorable little brat that this wretched town could spit out. I would adopt him as my own son if the idea of showing paternal affection didn’t give me hives. He has the best sense of fashion out of anyone in Devinstone and I will fight you on that. He’s been dealt a shitty hand in the family department, but he bears through it like a champ. I just want him to thrive someplace where people can properly appreciate him and his art. He’s so fucking talented, I couldn’t bear the thought of him wasting away here like me. He deserves so much better, and I admire him so much. I’m pretty sure he’d choose his cat over me any day though, which sucks but I respect it.”

                    His eyes glued to the canvas with much admiration, knowing his talkative nature about his work could come off as conceited if you will. “This is pastel; I dabble with it here and there. It’s like powdered pigment. People always debate on whether or not pastel is considered to fit under the umbrella of painting since it differs majorly from the other mediums of art, but I like the delicacy of it. Now this,” he echoed out, seized with heightened excitement. “This is classic acrylic. I’ve got some water color stacked on display and a little bit of oil on linen,” Robert made sure to provide as eyes gleamed, unsure if Rupert felt comfortable with the scattered materials plastered everywhere. “Considering the rate that I’m going, you might as well become an artist yourself —-  aha. All jokes aside, I’d like an opinion; an honest one. How does everything look?” Surely his critique isn’t going to dwindle his muse, but from everything displayed, an interpretation would be beneficial.           @rupcrt​

what would completely break your character?

Riva is especially close with her brother, if anything were to ever happen to him, she would be absolutely devastated. Similarly, losing her parents or her sisters. Being dismissed from her job. 

for what would your character give their life?

A goddamn vacation.

what is your character afraid of?

Those events listed above. 

And, although she’s quite the independent woman, not getting to settle down with someone and have a family (biological, or not).

what would completely break your character?

I think if she ever actually let someone in, they could break her. She’s got walls up that would scare Jon Snow, so if someone got past that and actually saw her, and then by some miracle actually liked what they saw... she can’t even imagine that, but real love is the most dangerous thing there is.

what are your character’s major flaws?

She’s a bitch, man. She tries not to be, she really does. She hates who she was in high school and really wants to let go of that. She doesn’t want the bully label to haunt her forever. She’s kind of open about that on social media, because she knows someone would try to ‘expose’ and ‘cancel’ her for the shit she pulled. She’s twisted it into this redemption story, like she’s an angel now, but it’s a struggle. 

what is your character afraid of?

Everything? She wants to be kind, but she also wants to be important. She wants to be loved, but she also wants to be left alone. She wants to be smart, but she wants to be happy, and it’s less of a balance beam and more of a slippery tightrope to try to be everything. Maybe she’s scared of not being perfect. That’s never really been an option.

what would completely break your character?

Bitch, he’s already broken and you know why. You know what you did. (I say, like I had no part in this heartbreak).

But for real, to any outsiders, it probably looked like Fee was the light in Roo’s darkness, but it worked both ways. Felix was on the street not long before he met Roo. He still has PTSD from the shit that happened to him when he was homeless. And Roo came along and made him feel valuable, and safe, and wanted. He didn’t even know he needed that. 

So knowing that he had that, and he lost it, and it’s for no good reason? He can’t even take solace in knowing that Roo is happier or better off without him, because he’s not. Neither of them are better off now and there’s nothing Felix can do. That’s what’s breaking him.

what are your character’s major flaws?

Every...thing? He’s just a mess. A loudmouth idiot mess. He makes awful decisions and hurts himself and others. He needs to be REINED IN.

what is your character afraid of?

Not to make everything about Roo but you already know that everything is always about Roo... so. He’s not afraid of literally anything except for Roo being stuck being the heir to a stupid booze company in Devinstone for the rest of his life and never being allowed actual freedom or happiness.

what was the best thing in your character’s life?

Elliot. And then the memory of Elliot. And then the potential of him. The Elliot in her daydreams, where he was happy with a loving family and a million friends who adored him and kept him safe. Now it’s the real Elliot, who breaks her heart into a thousand pieces... but she loves him more than all the daydream/memory/potential versions put together.

how does the image your character tries to project differ from the image they actually project?

I love this question. She tries very hard to seem elegant and put together and kind. The last one comes through. Sometimes she can look elegant, but she can never manage to act it. Sometimes she actually is put together - her life is going almost entirely as she planned it - but she projects an image of bumbling awkwardness anyway, because that’s who she is at the core.

what is your character afraid of?

Everything? But also nothing. She imagines that the worst has already happened. Her heart has been broken so many times she can put it back together blindfolded and backwards, so she almost doesn’t fear breaking it again. But then, she knows that heartbreak can come from unexpected places. People you didn’t even know you’d given your heart to can shatter it completely.

2. what was the best thing in your character’s life? 

i had to sleep on it because i had? no? idea? i think her grand mother was by far the best thing in her life. she taught sandrine amazing life lessons and she helped her become the pretty decent human she is today. i’ll not ramble about it any longer!

other than that, ice skating was also a very good escape. it would take her mind away from her feelings, help her focus on the wind caressing her face rather than what prevented her from sleeping at night. it fed her need for competition, but it also proved her winning is not what matters the most (which is easy to say for someone who won all the time but details). it gave her a prupose for half of her life, so that was also very good.

11. for what would your character give their life?

family. her parents, her brother, her potential children, she’d go to the ends of the world for them and do whatever she can to protect them.
