Khottabych (2006)
Internet comedy about genie in the old russian internet (a.k.a. Runet). It is based on the novel "The Copper Jar of Old Khottabych" by Sergey Oblomov, and uses the title character, genie Khottabych, created by Soviet writer Lazar Lagin for his children's book and movie "Old Khottabych".
Fanfact: Mark Geykhman (antagonist) also voiced a Sniper from tf2.

This blog is dedicated to the Russian indie game series Beholder and Beholder2
Story of the games sets in dystopian setting. It tells about the totalitarian state known as The Great State. The game was obviously inspired by such novels as 1984 and We Sadly, there’s VERY little Beholder content out of the Russian web. Especially there’s lack of content on Tumblr and DeviantArt. So, I simply HAD to make such blog, because there’re plenty of fanarts, fics and memes in the Russian Beholder fandom. I also know that there’re definitely some Beholder fans outside of Russia. But most of them can’t find enough content on English-speaking web. So I hope this blog will help people to find more Beholder fan-content here, on Tumblr.

Livejournal servers are in Russia, where the government is really starting to lock down the internet, especially going after VPNs. I am not a huge livejournal user, not anymore, but I have been logging on again, intermittently, for a while.
I have never been blocked from logging in even while using a VPN, even though VPNs have generally been banned or blocked in Russian Federation for quite some time. Today that changed. However, by using Tor over VPN I was able to access and log on, even though Russia has been battling against Tor users forever. Tor over VPN is awesome, providing extra layers of security and anonymity. I don't use it very often though because it's also slower and I don't want to unnecessarily strain the Tor network just to look at old paintings or read wikipedia or whatever.
