SLIDES IN BC YURI NEEDS A GOD DAMN KISS

excitement paints pink across his cheeks. there’s an energy in the stands that reminds him, oddly enough, of the sports festival. wide eyes wander around the sea of people, picking out the tell tale glittery signs and plus cats that set yuri’s angels apart from the regular fans. a hand on his back - bakugou’s - pulls his attention back. he spares a glance for his friend, excitement not daring to dull from his expression. denki expects to be chastened for something but finds instead, that it had just been a gesture to get his attention. bakugou grins, entirely prideful, as he nods toward yuri on the opposite side of the rink. the routine hasn’t even started yet.he makes a mental note to mention to yuri later just how proud his cousin is of him ; how proud they both are. though, if the way he and bakugou shout louder than anyone else as yuri takes the ice, the whole stadium probably knows. 

the music starts and denki swears he doesn’t breath at all for the whole routine. a hush falls over him as he watches, awed. he knew already that yuri was one of the best — but it’s one thing to see it on television and during practice and a whole other world to see it like this. pride swells so heady in his chest he fears it might burst open. yuri is a beautiful monster. ( he spares, barely, a glance for bakugou — understands, incredibly and all at once, how they came from the same family. ever evolving monsters, the both of them. )

when it’s over denki almost mourns it like a loss. there are actual tears in his eyes ; whether from amazement or forgetting to blink is beyond him. stunned, to no fault of his quirk, he clings to last, fading melody of the music. the crowd erupts, showering the ice in praise, plush, petals… denki barely gathers himself together, with the help of bakugou’s elbow in his side, in time to make a mad dash for the kiss & cry. considering he’s already done the latter, he makes a brash intention to conquer the former. 

he stumbles around the corner with plenty of time left before the results, and beams a 100,000 watt smile as he spots his target. “ YURI ! INCREDIBLE ! YURI ! ” he doesn’t need to shout anymore, he’s right there but damn it all, he can’t help himself. golden eyes make careful note of the cameras and greedy for a moment alone, denki snags yuri’s hand to pull him back around the corner. out of view from the international prying eyes, at least, he presses a kiss to his lips. it’s a bit rushed, maybe a bit bruising in his haste, too, but all too worth it to see the look on his boyfriend’s face when he pulls away. 

“ incredible, ” he says again, except this time he doesn’t so much mean the performance as he does the person who skated it. “ yuri, you’re incredible. ”
