Nature has something to do with the rustic lodge style decorating. It started in the Old World Europe, where the aboriginal mountain cabins were constructed. You can find the cabins in distant regions and it is not that easy to bring materials for construction. Therefore, natural materials, such as unfinished woods, twigs, animal skins and rough stones were used. 

The style was carried to the coast of America in the late 1800’s during the Industrial Revolution. And then, rich people from NYC started coming and exploring the wilderness of the Adirondack Mountains. 

Eventually, luxurious lodges were established in a rustic style as lakeside camps started to show up.  With a rustic interior design, natural materials like the knitted fabric, organic texture, worn metals and formed iron were used. The rural lifestyle along the mountainous area was changed when people started building houses everywhere. The houses are built in various styles, such as the Southwestern, Western, country, farm houses, cottage, and log cabin.   

In the Adirondack tradition, rustic décor symbolizes the natural beauty of the wood. Fences, furniture and shelves made of wood are built with its bark on. Other main components of a lodge style are leather and suede. Various houses use animal skins to naturally comply with the color of a rustic style.

 Natural fabrics are also used to cover furniture. They use cotton, linen, wool and hemp as materials. To warm up the room and to have a lenient atmosphere, woven fabrics were used. In a Southwestern and Western set up, bordered and nail head furniture are commonly used. They also integrate animal themes in a rustic style. They have bears, moose, deer, elks and birds in different prospects. They also use antlers in building. These styles incorporate natures and its natives. A rustic furniture is extremely textural and it makes impressions to some extent. 

It is more likely to receive more compliments on bigger pieces of designs. Some home decors, chandeliers and mirrors are refined and set to have smaller rustic style. Try applying the rustic style in a different way with your accent mirrors, tables, a rustic lamp or coat trees in your room to have a peaceful feeling. You can decorate the smaller spaces with lighting or additional accessories.   

You might also want to decorate outdoors with a rustic style. You can make a natural setting for your landscapes in your garden and wall lighting. Various materials, such as copper, iron, bronze and other metals will look fabulous when plants surrounds them. 

To complete a lodge, you may add home décor accents for your interior design. Find some earthly colored accessories, roused tin accents, pine cones, essential copper, clay pots and colored quilts. Some people who enjoy outdoor activities also appreciates accents themed with their events.
