The heart is as a mirror, and when it is clear of all rust and blemishes, one can behold things in it; but when it exists covered with rust, with nothing to polish it or protect it from rust, then that rust becomes deeply ingrained and may even penetrate its depth so that it becomes impossible to remove.  Remembrance of death and recitation of the Quran polish the heart.
