@rustlcss gets another thing killjoys verse ; remnants of the nest
“I don’t mean to be SHORT about it, but you can’t go back. If you go back now, they’ll REPROGRAM you. Wipe you. Shoot you up with enough amnesia they’ll have to teach you how to chew your food again. This is home now.”
“most of us are, including the good people who run this place.” a careful glance is cast over the jacket that he so obviously points out; one that he’d seen his dad wear often enough. another one of those - serpents. “jacket doesn’t mean much.”

Finals were finally done & Jack was able to enjoy himself again. Going to UCLA was a challenge, luckily he was smart & could handle it, but he had hoped school would be a little more fun. Maybe it had to do with the fact his dad wasn’t speaking to him right now because he was wasting his time on his ‘useless major.’ English Literature wasn’t the best idea, but it pissed his father off & he enjoyed it so he was keeping it.
Most everyone had ventured home from the bar. Everyone was tired from two weeks of paper writing & study, but Jack wasn’t giving up the night too soon. In a few days he’d be living back home with his father & brother. That alone kept him out drinking. Eventually though the bar kicked him out so they could close down. He pulled his leather jacket on, pulled out his pack of cigarettes & decided to walk down to a corner store to get more beer.
As he passed by a dark ally he heard rustling then stuff falling over & yelling. Jack frowned & took the unlit cigarette out of his mouth, his eyes narrowing as he looked down the ally to see what was going on. He could make out one big figure & one small figure. It was obvious that they were fight. Jack dropped the unlit cigarette & ran towards the fight. The small guy didn’t stand a chance against the big guy.
“Get the fuck off’a him!” Jack shouted as he threw his whole body against the bigger guy. Jack was five foot nine & weighed 140lbs soaking wet but he wasn’t just letting this happen. His shoulder contacted the man & the man stumbled off to the side. Jack put his hands up to fight. “Walk away.” He warned & the man tried to throw a punch but even drunk Jack was able to dodge & throw a punch that broke the man’s nose.
“The fuck?” The man growled & pulled away, his face bloody. “He’s not fucking worth it.” The guy waved Jack off & moved around him to leave the ally. Jack kept his hands up, standing protectively between the two. Once the man was gone Jack turned.
“Hey, are you okay?” Jack turned around & knelt next to the....well, kid. “He didn’t hurt you too bad, right?” Jack’s words were just a little slurred from the beer but he wasn’t inarticulate.

pale fingers reach out to grasp at his sleeve, tugging him along with much excitement. “c’mon! i’m going to find you the perfect outfit...i love thrift stores - did you know that, fin? you never know what sort of treasures you’re gonna find!”
I love the way you haven't tried to make him one of those 'tragic sad villain baby uwu' kind of characters. He's a terrible person and you haven't shied away from it.
WHAT ARE SMALL TRAITS YOU LIKE ABOUT HOW I WRITE MY CHARACTER? || ( ACCEPTING. )
thank you so much!! this is something i actually get worried about a lot, since all of the films and the musical go the route of severely changing his story to make him a ‘poor sad woobie baby who never wanted to do anything wrong uwu’ type guy and i. get nervous that no one will want the raw and amoral and disturbing jekyll from the book. so!! i’m always happy when people say they like it!!
It had been a few days since she had seen him.
Bridgette didn’t know him, at least not really. She knew him as the guy who lived upstairs, the guy who she would see most days from inside the veterinary clinic as he crossed the street on his way going to whatever he had to do. They didn’t talk, maybe a head nod here and there in acknowledgement but their relationship was the equivalent of strangers who just caught glimpses of each other.
So it didn’t make sense for the anxiety she felt late that night when she finally came home after a long day. From upstairs she could hear nothing -- no footsteps, no quiet hum of a TV or radio or soft chit-chat. Bridgette sighed, placing her purse down on the stand beside the front door as she then shrugged her sweater off her shoulders. What if something was wrong?
Bridgette took several steps into her apartment before she stalled her progress. She turned back to look towards the door, a certain hesitation in her expression. Maybe she was worrying about nothing, besides, it wasn’t any of her business. Regardless, Bridgette found herself heading back towards her door. It didn’t take long to travel up the stairs to the third floor apartment. She bit down on her lower lip as several knocks were placed on his door.
Inside sounded strangely... hollow. Bridgette’s anxiety only seemed to grow as there was no response, no movement from inside the door.
Maybe he’s just out of town or something...?
Bridgette tried to consider her options. There was no real reason to worry, she didn’t know him. They were virtually strangers. He could be out, could be staying at a friends house or family, could be doing a lot of different things that wasn’t her business. Placing a hesitant hand on the door knob, she couldn’t hide the surprise in her expression as she discovered that the front door was unlocked.
She suddenly felt cold. Her expression furrowed into worry as she pushed the door open inch by inch.
“H-Hello?” She called into the unknown space. She didn’t want to simply just enter the strange apartment, especially without permission but something pushed her forward. Soon she took a solid first step inside, squeezing in through the small space between the door and the door frame. “Is anyone home?”
