"Patty!! Heya!" You rush up at her, you'd been in with a rough group since, well forever, you just laughed and leaned in close to lick her cheek, because you reaaaaally liked to torture her juuust that little bit
She replied as she always did when you liked to pull shit like that, as in she yelped and shoved at your chest with a hushed "Hey! Back it up a bit! Everyone's gonna notice that-" She breaths out and furrows her brows at you
You just laugh a little "yeah right" you grin, chewing gum like an idiot, you glanced back, you'd been walking with Rusty-James and Steve- Rusty-James always looked like a kicked puppy when you and Patty spoke to each other
Rusty-James had been surprisingly accepting of finding out she didn't like guys the hard way, but you honestly supposed it was just him being cocky about the fact 'she still chose to date me even though she digs chicks, means the break up ain't my fault'
But you always made sure he just told all his buddies Patty was being dramatic or whatever else he could say other than "She's into broads man!" like you knew he would otherwise
You just turned back to Patty with a grin "I come bearing gifts" You whisper and she smiles just a little, relenting the sour look to ask "Yeah what? I don't know if I wanna know" She replies with a slight laugh at your goofy grin
"Yeah you wanna know!" You smile and roll your eyes before digging in your pocket, squeezing an eye shut while you fish around, making her roll her own eyes at your focus and crinkled nose as you finally found it with a little "Ah!" and grabbed it from your pocket to finally present your findings to her
A bracelet, a real nice one too, Patty could definitely tell you'd been into town with Rusty-James and Steve at this point because a bracelet meant only one thing "Remember when I said I didn't need you nicking anything else from stores" She pinches your arm and you give a yelp and your best pout
"Rude" and she just shakes her head before you plead with "Hey a natural instinct for a woman is to hunt! We're gatherers Patty!" You drag out the last sound of her name which just makes her laugh at you and you raise your eyebrow
"But I will take it" She says with a headshake and you glance around before pecking her cheek as she mouths "Smooth, real smooth" and you just smile
Not a request but I just finished rumble fish, idk if you read it yet, but if you did, what was your opinion on it? It felt like waiting on an impending doom the whole time I read it but it was so super peak!!

I love Rumblefish!! I always say this but I saw fighter fish in a pet store once and almost keeled over and died out of excitement I fear ( the brainrot, it gets to me!! )
It's not my fav S.E Hinton book, but it's still amazing, Im just glad Patty got away from my (half) opp Rusty-James, I say half because I relate to him, I also have nothing in my brain and I forget stuff sewww
Motorcycle Boy was my least favourite character, sorry to disappoint everyone, and Patty or Steve were my favs, I wanna see more fics written for them in future (idc I will be the change I want to see in the world if need be)

Rusty-James couldn't help but be absolutely enamoured by how damn soft your bed was! As he let himself sink into the blankets upon blankets that rested on your bed, he gave a content sigh and let his eyes flutter closed
You came in after showering and having your own time to just have a little bit of peace, almost laughing when you saw Rusty-James laying on his stomach, his face buried into the pillow
He looked like he'd never been more content loving how soft the bed was, you plopped and jumped onto Rusty-James and he gave a little screech but laughed, you just giggled and rolled off of Rusty-James
"When were ya gonna tell me your bed was so damn comfy" Rusty-James said with a content nod and you gave a smile "I'm used to it, I don't find it all that comfy" You say with a little shrug and he gives a little head shake
"You girls take everything for granted, man" Rusty-James says with that stupid crooked grin, highlighting his slightly sharper canines and you roll your eyes amused, kissing Rusty-James cheek, you always found his idiocy fun
"You've been on my bed before, never found it this comfy" You say with an amused little smile and Rusty-James pauses a little, that made you laugh, he always forgot things, you were content, he seemed to remember the weirdest stuff
Usually anything and everything about you to be so fair, he shrugs a little and rolls so he's on his back and stretches his arms "Musta forgotten 'bout that" Rusty-James says with a little hum and you shrug
"You forget everything" You say sticking your tongue out at Rusty-James and he almost laughs a little, poking you in the side "Idiot" And you roll your eyes once again with a little squeal "Owwwww" You say feigning hurt
He just laughed as you clutched your side and he just happily buried his face back into the fuzzy blanket on your bed, you flicked his temple and smiled, he just chuckled a little with a grin
You were just amused to see him so damn content, he just laughs amused and you hum kissing his cheek once again "I oughta roll through your window more often!" Rusty-James chirps with a grin and you shrug
"I like the sound of that" You say with a smile and Rusty-James laughs at your content with that, just flopping back and smiling like a cat who's just found the absolute perfect spot

You couldn't help but giggle like an idiot as Rusty-James kissed all over your neck, you could see your light pastel and various plushies staring at you and it did feel like they were judging you, but they wouldn't if they knew how charming Rusty-James could be!
You just shove at his chest giggling and squirming "Rusty-James!!" And he laughs like he's drunk off kisses with "You're so hot" almost slurred and you can't help giggling like an idiot, your cheeks pretty damn hot now
You give a squeak as he holds you down "C'maaaaahn sweetheart, you love the way I talk to you!" He laughs and you shake your head with a little squeak "Oh never! never ever-" You giggle and he laughs kissing at your neck
"And you're a beauty, you'd be in that place you keep old art" He says and you pause containing giggles and squeaks "A museum?" and he grins and nods "Yep!" he confirms with a little nod
"Absolutely gorgeous, like an old art piece, lookin' stunning, always" Rusty-James says with a grin and you shake your head, wiggling out of his arms and flopping back as Rusty-James lets his back rest back on the head board
"Y'know, I never thought I'd want to marry a girl, never" Rusty-James said with a little hum and you pause a little, looking back up at Rusty-James with that sweet clueless smile "What do you mean by that huh?"
"I want to marry you- only you" Rusty-James says quietly and kisses your cheek "I'll drive us away from here, and one day we'll have the ugliest little family, the crudest one you've ever met" He says with a grin
"Absolutely not" You giggle "They'll be so cute and cool" You insist and Rusty-James grins "wishful thinking, I like it on you" He taunts with a little nod and you shake your head amused
"yeah yeah" You shake your head and Rusty-James "Ugly little house in the burbs and the coolest car ever" You just laugh "Yeah you're just mean to me, it'll all be cool" and he laughs
"Yeah, mean" You say with a sweet playful smile and he shakes his head just kissing your forehead, you shake your head and roll onto him, he pulls your back into his chest, wrapping his arms around your waist and burying his face in your shoulder
Rubbing his thumb over your ring finger he hums quietly "Married, me married- who woulda thought, that'll be me one day" He says with a mumble and you smile softly, resting your head back with a soft huff
You couldn't wait, taming Rusty-James was a feat in itself but this? This was just nice

You'd worked at the local Cafe as long as Rusty-James had known you, since you two had started dating even, it was alright sure but Rusty-James didn't love the quiet and peace that came with a cafe job, he liked things quick, rowdy and fun as ever
"Cafes man, I hate 'em" He says with a huff as you bring him chocolate milk, which he never seems to not order and you sit down, it's your break
"Why?" Your raise an eyebrow and lean forward, sipping your own drink and he shakes his head, you just throw out guesses "Too quiet? Boring? Plain? Strange taste?"
Those reasons all sounded so childish said put loud so Rusty-James thinks for a moment, you didn't know that was possible, but miracles do happen, he finally perks
"The French man, it's a direct show of colonoscopies babe" He shakes his head with a scowl and you pause "colonization?" You correct gently and he clicks his fingers
"That's the one" He shakes his head "the little dash over the e when it's wrote, all of it, it's all French, I'm not French, don't wanna be"
"Alright, enough about the French Rusty-James" You're thoroughly amused but you don't need coworkers overhearing your boyfriend blab about colonization via Cafe even if the blab was hilarious
"Why can't you work at Benny's or something?" He says with a nose scrunch and you raise your eyebrows "when you change the law so minors can serve booze, sure I can"
He groans "That's just plain bullshit doll" He tips his head back "real mean of the man who runs it all" You just roll your eyes amused at all of the idiocy radiating off of Rusty-James
"You could be a florist- nah- I don't like that either" He shakes his head and you pause "that sounds kinda fun though" and he shakes his head
"You could.. be a haircut person" Rusty-James hums chuckling when you correct with "Hairdresser" and he nods "Yeah those"
and you shrug "only if you let me test my new haircuts on you" and Rusty-James shakes his head quick in a "nope" at that one, making you laugh
"You could be a model" He hums and you snort amused "Biased, you're my boyfriend you have to think that" you shoot back and he protests with a "Nah!"
"sure, Rusty-James, sure" You say with a sarcastic tone, finding it decently funny to have all this dumb talk, most guys in town find you pretty so sure you could agree but it's much more fun like this
"Breaks over" You say and pull out your chair, Rusty-James stands, chocolate milk with him "I'll just hang 'round till a customer comes" He shrugs casually
You can't really argue, more time with Rusty-James is always nice for you, you get to hang out often sure but extra is always appreciated when it comes to you two
So he lingers at the counter "Hm, more jobs.." He mumbles and you just roll your eyes amused at the fact he's so stuck on this he pauses to think for a second
"Hold on I forgot" He seemed to be saying this so often you just laughed "just shut up and drink your chocolate milk" and he does do
He never knew he'd find someone who was as patient as you and didn't care when he forgot unimportant things, you definitely kept him in check, and he couldn't complain one bit

"Family dinners!? Man, since when did your family do family dinners?" Rusty-James says completely scrunching his face and looking at you as you pick up your jacket Rusty-James had so very kindly thrown to the floor for you and you look back at him unimpressed, raising an eyebrow
"Since forever, I've just been skipping them for you every time- idiot" You throw your jacket back at Rusty-James face making him give a little 'ach' and you roll your eyes decently amused at all of it, making you almost laugh
"Ya can't just.. miss another?" He tugs you by the hips and starts kissing on your back like a creep, you weasel your way out of his arms and scrunch your nose
"My family members are getting suspicious, and I don't need to put up with you a whole night- let me go, Rusty-James" You swat at his hand and almost roll your eyes once again for good measure
"C'mooooon sweetheart please" He drags out the last of all his vowels and scrunches his face and you reach out for your jacket to take it back and he holds it over his head
"Give it back- Rusty-James" You spit and he holds it out of reach "Nope, absolutely not- not till ya agree to stay" He grins and you shove at his chest
"God you're a dick!" You squeak and he gives that stupid laugh "Just for you baby" You roll your eyes once more and he raises his eyebrows at that, grinning even wider, like a Chesire cat
"Watch out, your eyes could get stuck like that-" He grins and taunts and you groan and reach for your jacket as he gets up from the couch
He's good at this, it makes you laugh half the time, mad the other half when you actually have to do something important like get to this family dinner which you were bound to be late for by now, you just gave a groan
"Rusty-James, c'mon!" You bat at him more and more, until he laughs, jolting a little when Motorcycle Boy enters, raising his eyebrows "oh, hi you two"
"Hi" You grumble just continuing to jump for your jacket, Motorcycle Boy almost snorted and said "Rusty-James, drop it, kid" he says flopping down onto one of the mattresses
Rusty-James does as told but not without plenty of grumbling "thank you, love you, bye" You kiss Rusty-James cheeks then rush off giving Motorcycle Boy a thanks as well
"Damnit man, not fair" Rusty-James scowls and Motorcycle Boy just stares forward and he scoffs "You can take a second to be in the universe just to tell me off!?" And he groaned flopping back
In perspective it was decently funny, and you'd definitely laugh when you heard if Rusty-James remembered to tell you about it
opinions on Rusty James and Patty? I truly think if the party didn’t happen they would’ve been end game.

But, I also fear Patty deserved better, I think Rusty-James could've gotten better at navigating that stuff but he seemed to brush her off as dramatic with things like her concern about him drinking the beer from the fridge and her not liking fights
I feel like they could've worked if Rusty-James put the work in
