First one down! Also-WHY ARE THEY SO UNDERRATED?! IT IS CRIMINAL.
There needs to be more art of them, so today I spread my RutherPie propaganda.

Why people wished they stayed platonic:
Tendi and Rutherford
(mild spoilers for Star Trek Lower Decks) When the two first meet in the first episode, they become fast friends. THE ENTIRE SHOW, there was never any romantic hints or anything, no flusters, no blushes, and in general showed no romantic intrest in eachother, with multiple plotlines and scenes about how they were freinds, both of them refer to eachother as best friends, etc. There was even a whole B plot in episode 36. Tendi and Rutherford pretended to be a couple as part of a mission, and were explicity uncomfortable with being percieved as a couple and being forced into couple activities by some aggresive restraunt staff. So, with a very well established platonic relationship… In the LAST MINUTES of the LAST EPISODE, Ruthorford realizes he has feelings for Tendi. Up until now he had a cyborg implant, which was removed, the in-canon reason is that the implant had some kind of dopamine blocker that hid those feelings from him. He is one of, if not the most upbeat and joyous characters on the show, so this makes no sense. This really felt like some kind of rushed fanservice teaser or something, as it really came out of nowhere. Sorry if I rambled lol
Katniss and Gale
It would have been a lot less trouble for both of them if things had been kept platonic, and Katniss could have maybe kept a friend by the end of the series since the messiness of and stress about the sort-of romance helped to push them away from each other during hard times.
They never should’ve had romantic emotions between them we should’ve gotten them being able to be best friends even if one is female and one is male. Guys and girls can be friends without it being romantic and Katniss never thought of Gale that way until after she had been falling in love with Peeta. Yes I get that a love triangle is dramatic but with everything else going on they really didn’t need it tbh.

Ruthie appreciation post <33
I've decided that Rutherford is transmasc, not for any deep character reason, but just because I think it would be realllllly funny for him to have transitioned and gone, "eh, I like my name well enough. I'll just add an 'n' to the end of it and call it good :)"
and thus, Samanthan was born.
Last night I was talking with a friend who’s a casual Star Trek fan. She said, “I heard somewhere that Star Trek did mpreg once. That has to be made up, right?” I explained what happened in that episode of Enterprise including the fact that Trip grew nipples on his wrists. (I forgot about the time on Lower Decks when Rutherford got pregnant). My friend also said, “Someone told me that Kirk recited the US Constitution in front of a lot of shirtless men. That can’t be real.” It’s impossible to explain The Omega Glory in a way that makes sense but I tried. Later, she asked me if it’s true that Picard met an inter dimensional god. It was also difficult to explain who/what Q is.
The moral:
Star Trek is always weirder than you assume it will be.
