❝ No. Unhand me. ❞ Izzy mumbles, trying to sound angry, sharp, like the first mate of Blackbeard should, but he can already feel his defenses falling. He is such a failure of a first mate, he should be doing his job, he should be making sure things worked perfectly so Blackbeard wouldn't do something cruel... more cruel than usual, he should — his eyes are filled with tears and even though he doesn't hug Fang back, he let himself be held, his head to the other's chest as he tries his best not to cry. He should be able to manage that at least. For Fang. For the crew. He has to be strong.

Robert was never really the type to hold extensive conversations, but his line of work called for it. Although it's not like it didn't come without its perks. He knew practically everything about everyone that came through here, whether they came in yesterday or years ago. It all stayed with him just for the sake of knowing. You never know when it might come in handy.

So he leans against the bar, vaguely gesturing to the bottles behind him. "We have brandy, whisky, rum...whatever suits your palette, really."

the bowsprit stood between them like a line in the sand. edward had always been an EXPERT at crossing lines ... he ducked beneath it and emerged within the other's space, a broad palm settling 'pon his shoulder. a squeeze that spoke of false comfort : everything will be fine ( it's almost over ). ❛ chin up, man you're first mate now. ❜ a beat of silence ere the hand rose with a soft pat to frenchie's cheek. ❛ just don't cross me, n' the whole world's your oyster, yeah? ❜ head canted and closed the distance. they pressed a single KISS to the man's temple and lingered. both yet wreaked of iron and gunpowder.

Ed had moved on from sadly sucking marmalade off of his fingers to testing the safety of a candle in a blanket fort. He held his hand up to it, feeling the flame singe off the little hairs on the backs of his fingers.

He did all of this, knowing full well that Lucius was his captive audience within the confines of the blanket fort. At least he had control over the fucking blanket fort. He'd built it, exactly how he wanted it. He'd even put in a door. Pretty damn good for a blanket fort.

"Do you ever feel like your skin doesn't fit?" he asked after what was far too much silence to be comfortable.

-- mutt's never heard that expression before. it shows, very briefly, in the way his brows shoot up. in the little twitch tugging at one side of his mouth that even parts them, ever so slightly, if frenchie'd bend at the waist, get all up in his face, and squint.

he's quick to stuff it away, replacing it with the usual tight, hard mask. though there's something softer there, too, reserved for pack. his head moves downward with his eyes, looking at the floorboards. his fingernails graze at a stray itch laid into the curve of skin and bone just above his right ear before he nods, shrugs.

" figured that knife'd do you-- " he looks back up, " more good than it would him. " a single little dirty finger points at the man in question, dead as a doornail. pointedly, he swipes his own knife clean against his trousers.

it jars home the realization that he's hungry, yielding to a muted growling of his stomach that he recognizes only belatedly as even belonging to his body at all. 

he's relieved to see this lot alive. he'd thought them goners. sharing a meal, sitting down and resting for a couple minutes, would be nice. to catch up, maybe. maybe they missed him, too, though he won't go so far as to think that. still, powder monkeys aren't known for having free time, busy with odd jobs even in lulls between battles --

" i've got work to do. " he tries to look apologetic.

11. A kiss to the neck

"I missed you, Pete, oh god, I really missed you." Lucius manages to utter this in between the persistent kisses to his lips. He's not entirely sure where they've stumbled off to, some nook or cranny below deck that was nearly impossible to get into, but hey, you make it work when you don't want to be disturbed any time soon.

Even with his back awkwardly pressed up against the wall, Lucius somehow manages to move enough so he can trail his lips down Pete's neck, his fingers clinging to the back of his shirt like his very life depends on it. It's been...god knows how long since he's felt the gentle touch of another person, and there hadn't been a single night that went by where he didn't think of Pete or dream of him.

He stops at his shoulder, just resting his head there for a moment, squeezing his eyes shut. Ah, fuck, he thinks he's crying. A hand moves to wipe his eyes, and he laughs shakily. "Sorry, sorry, I'm just..you have no idea how happy I am to see you again, love. Really."
