So we’ve been on the road in this new lifestyle for 6 weeks so far and I cant believe we only just thought of this a year ago! Granted I’m a firm believer in fate, and I KNOW we werent in the right mind set to have taken this on a moment sooner…but I’m still a little resentful of all the wasted time leading up to this awesomeness ;p yeah yeah…I know…it was leading UP to this…hence necessary…pffft! Lol! But for realsy, I couldn’t be happier. Everything feels all new again! (Granted…most of my “things” around here now ARE in fact new…but you know what I mean). I feel like I did the moment I moved out from under my mother’s roof…the first time (merp!). Like I could take on the world!
I attribute a huge part of this to the actual act of downsizing. If you’re considering it…DO IT! GET RID OF THE SHIT! We have a 10x10 storage unit with my piano, art, family heirlooms etc. And what we didnt bring on the RV, we GOT RID OF! Craigslist, friends, hell we even held a “yard-free” (yardsales give me too much anxiety lol) for our neighborhood!
You have NO idea how much SHIT you actually have. I’m serious. I don’t even know you, but I’m willing to bet money this is the case!
I suggest downsizing in stages. One turn will NOT do it. Afterall, you havn’t been holding on to all the SHIT because it meant nothing right?
It took me a total of 9 months to purge, and being 100% honest (which #5BootiesInTheBeast does solemnly swear to always be!) I am STILL going through the final stages even though I thought this was the least amount of SHIT I could bear to live with in the RV. Articles of clothing I swore 6months ago I couldn’t do without, I’m now finding useless and in the way. Same with some Kitchen SHIT…some bedding SHIT…even some bathroom SHIT.
The effect this act of cleansing has on your soul is one of a kind. It’s like being debt free. Which…Seriously…who is?…So why not feel the next best thing and downsize!
DOOO IT! DOOOOOOO IT! DOOOOOOOOO IT!
