'Light Freight Workings'
SodorGust Day 2 - Freight
[1930]
“Honestly, Jim.” Albert III scoffed. “Of all the trains their railway has, and you go with the one named for traveling slowly?”
“It's an easy train,” Jim replied, simply.
“It's a downgrade.” Albert III huffed.
“You said this whole railway was a downgrade.”
“Is that right?” Falcon snapped, startling both tramway engines. Neither realised he'd been listening.
“Our railway,” he continued, sharply, “is at least twice the size yours was, with three times the traffic, and four times the passenger clientele!”
“‘Your railway’ would never have come to be if not for ours paving the way.” Albert III sniffed. “You're in our debt.”
“Oh, please!” Falcon barked, with a sarcastic laugh. “You can-”
“That's enough from both of you.” Duke scolded, in the quiet, yet severe tone that always shut Falcon up. Albert III made to comment, but one look at the old engine had him wisely reconsidering.
“And Jim,” Duke added, in a far softer tone, “there's nothing wrong with wanting to take the Horse & Cart. However, it isn't quite as simple as you may believe.”
“Not to worry, Duke,” Jim smiled. “I'd planned to take extra special care while running it.”
Duke smiled approvingly. That made two engines that were easy for the rest to get along with. The only trouble was their new number 5.
